I'd love to get Briante Weber for PG. He'll likely be in the second round because he doesn't have 'sexy' upside, but man... he wreaks havoc defensively and attacks rim with good body control. Not a shooter, but he's a game changer.

Kevon Looney, UCLA, is another legit NBA prospect.

I think we should hold off on discussing potential top 5 prospects, because the chance of us getting let down is still out there.

I think there's a decent chance with the lack of minutes and prime time 1st option touches that Towns drops.

Players I've seen that I'm pretty confident in being successful NBA contributors:

Jahlil Okafor
Karl Towns
Kevon Looney
Frank Kaminsky
Montrezl Harrell
Myles Turner
Bobby Portis

Players that I need to see more:

Robert Upshaw
Justice Winslow
Stanley Johnson
D'Angelo Russell
Chris McCullough
Caris LeVert

Players that can be good role players:

Willie Cauley-Stein
Tyus Jones
Jerian Grant
Kennedy Meeks
Jarell Martin
Briante Weber
Vince Hunter

That doesn't include Mudiay or INTL guys. Alot of talent in this upcoming draft. Really need to trade Hill and Lin for picks.

We will be giving the pick to the suns. No way we finish with 1 thru 5. Kobe will not allow it, Suns will get better. Stupid trade to begin with. Why give up so much for a 38 year old used up player. And why did mitch not top 12 protect the pick.

Towns can go anywhere from 2/3 to 7/8 to me, he might be there for you.
I wont draft a PF or SG/SF, you need a big or a PG in my mind.
Justise Winslow could work also, if you get a wing, it has to be a defender.

The more mystery around a big the higher his stock is. They just don't drop. I can see a PG dropping because I believe someone out there thinks there's superstar potential in Stanley Johnson and a desperate team would like to lock their Center position for the future with someone like Kaminsty or Cauley Stein. Kaminsky is tailor made for Phoenix right now that if they get our pick in the 6-10 range, they won't hesitate to pick him.

There's no way you can say that, man. We're almost completely eliminated from the POs in early January and we're already resting Kobe.

Maybe if you said this a month ago...right now we're clearly a bottom 5 team. Especially being in the west. In another thread you said something like we'll get 9th worst...I don't know if the 2nd worst western team can even statistically finish that high.

The fact is, we'll play great teams more often. We actually have a tanking advantage in the west.

The only scenario where the Lakers give the Suns a lottery pick and it works out for them is if they draft a shooting guard and let Dragic walk. Otherwise, there's not going to be any opportunity for the lottery pick to succeed. They're starting 5 is pretty much set, with ball dominant guys and defensive playmakers. Opportunity is just as, if not more important than the talent of the player.

Well considering Phoenix needs bigs and this is a big loaded draft at the top, the idea that Phoenix would draft a guard is very very unlikely with that pick.

Phoenix needs backup minutes at the 4 and 5 spot, not starters minutes. You're not using the 6th pick with a career backup in mind.

Justin Anderson is a really crafty player. Lots of pump fakes, fake passes, etc.

Guys don't doubt Stanley Johnson or Justice Winslow, both will be excellent wing players in the NBA. Johnson projects as a cross between a Pippen ( ability to defend top teams best player and ability to handle the ball ) and Lebron ( based on sheer size and his body will become more refined with NBA training).

Winslow also is an excellent defender already, athletic and a decent shooter, though he won't be the playmaker Johnson will be.

I think Stanley is more of a mix between Kawhi Leonard and Ron Artest. Still worth the #5 pick for sure.
