Nelson/Tmac/Fisher
Kobe/Gibson
Artest/Barnes
Gasol/Anderson
Bynum/Kmart?

we'd need to move on either fisher or blake, hopefully blake for an expiring.

lotta shooters on that team, makes kobe's life MUCH easier, and if brown could get them to play defense, i think its championship caliber.

lol what? not even close.

No really, he's arguably better. His stats are excellent and he's playing next to Dwight.

my bad. I was reading Jajwanda's post from the other thread. I was replying to him while on this thread. Similar topics. Might as well not jump from one thread to another. :P

I'm not sure about Ebanks + 1st for Gibson. I agree that we need help now but Ebanks might be the missing link at that wing position. We haven't seen him play much and I think it's only fair to give him a chance to prove himself under a new system.

T-Mac would be a good addition to the Laker back court. Nice player to finish games.

By the way considering the Lakers were interested in Delonte last year I think he's a very good bet to be the backup SG for the Lakers with Fisher in that Sessions role I was mentioning.

Blake would start, but West would finish (that sounds wrong).

odom has a higher reb% and just grabs more rebounds. its close, and odom plays more minutes, but odom passes the eye test for me over anderson.

anderson might be competing with howard, but odom is competing with gasol and bynum.

odom is the better rebounder, and its not as close as the stats say imo.

Stupid question but could you go into next season with Blake starting, West the backup SG alternating on defense with Derek Fisher and potentially win it all?

so yeah do we all agree this wouldnt be a bad team:

Nelson/Tmac/Fisher
Kobe/Gibson
Artest/Barnes
Gasol/Anderson
Bynum/Kmart

im sure we could have our pick of Bass or Anderson from Orlando depending on what the FO feels.

so to sum up the deals:

--Odom/Blake for Anderson(or Bass)/Nelson

--ebanks + future 1st for Gibson

--Tmac for the vet minimum

--Kmart for the MLE (or its equivalent in the new CBA)

still not sold on nelson or anderson tbh, but i wouldnt hate it.

+1 on the Magic deal. it's "ok" but it seems wrong because of losing LO.

yeah maybe if i was higher on nelson i would be okay with this deal. we're giving up the best player which makes it very difficult for me. if nelson was 25 instead of 28 i would like it. i just dont see nelson improving.

its really hard to let go of odom after he had his best season ever, and shouldve been an all star along with 6MOY.

you gotta give to get tho....

we don't have to! the point of the trade is to get a PG right? the deal looks too desperate. hell, let LO run the point! Kobe, TMac, LO are all capable! and Blake is still decent.

i'd rather sign Larry Hughes than lose LO. Hughes can play 3 positions, solid perimeter defender and is very familiar with Brown's system. i bet he wouldn't have his issues with him since he's pyating with the best player in the world in Kobe and a cast of good players. he's head got big because he was the 2nd best player in that CLE team and his style of play resembles James'. i bet he's mature enough to play the right way and play to his strenghts.

Cheap, workman's solution:

PG- TPE+2 future 2nds for Keyon Dooling. Dooling starts, can hit the 3, run the P and R and create offense as well as come off the bench at combo guard.

3-4m for Chris Douglass Roberts as the main backup wing.

41- Isaiah Thomas (quick PG)
46- backup big
56- to Europe
58- to Europe

Easy effective solution.

As far as Larry Hughes goes, he's a guy that's always been most effective playing with two shooters. If you have Blake and Kobe out there with him he's actually a bargain value wise.

nothing is going to be easy about this, and i sure as hell dont think CDR or Dooling are the answers to our shooting woes. we need at least one player who is a solid 40% 3pt shooter.

i like CDR as a backup wing tho. not for 3-4mil more for 1-2mil.

if we wanna get better we have to give up a player of value. otherwise these deals are just gambles that have a low probability of panning out.

He seems like he could be a solid backup but hes looks like a wildcard.... Im still praying that we get Leandro Barbosa.

As much as it doesn't seem like the flashy solution, Blake might not be so bad with the starting unit. I'll put it to you this way. The numbers when Blake plays with Bynum and the starters out there are very good. Much better than with Fisher in fact and that showed for example in game 2 vs. the Hornets.

I know we want better but the system the Lakers will run won't require much more than a knock down shooter that can defend at an average rate and Blake looks much better next to Kobe than Shannon Brown. It's not ideal, but it's the best we have right now. Right that unit in pencil as the Laker's starting unit. Traditionally Blake is a very good shooter. He just can't create without a Kobe out there.

It's the bench where the problem lies right now. Not sure how to turn that crap into gold.

I don't think CDR is expendable and the Bucks will match any offer IMO. though there is a glut in the 3 position in Milwaukee, he's still valuable. wasn't he coming off an injury?

the "cheap" proposition is solid but is not the "over-the-hump" solution.

If Arenas is cut, sign him at the MLE. 3-4 is ok. then sign Hughes. re-ignite that duo. bench problem solved. :)

PG- Arenas
SG- Hughes
SF- Barnes
PF- Odom
C- any decent bigman
