The time to deal for Amare was a while ago - now he's playing great for them as sixth man, even playing defense. They're in no hurry to unload him now

Might be time to look for an inexpensive SF. MWP looked terrible on Pierce last night and his legs just don't move anymore.

Blake or Duhon for Dorell Wright would be great for L.A.

Also Chris Duhon for Lavoy Allen might work with Bynum coming back to give Philly some depth. Allen fits nicely as a strong traditional PF for L.A.

We could probably use a PF more than a SF. Clark can move to the SF spot, move Ron Ron to the bench so he has reduced minutes and fresher legs, then insert new player to PF spot. win win win imho!

^ Should probably play matchup ball on any given night. Move Metta to the backup PF spot and choose between Meeks/Bryant/Clark/Jamison on any given night for the three starters.

MWP cannot play SF anymore.

its comical you guys still play that "if we had Avery card" you guys make it sound as if he some sort of franchise game changer and all the mean while igroning the fact that once BOSH got back that series didn't even look competitive, its the same way you guys laughed at us for complaining bout not having Bynum/Ariza for 08  . That series was fools gold, you guys should've rebuilt but instead tried to milk that squad for all its got and now you're in as bad a spot as we are, minus the fact you guys are in the 8th spot with very little competition to be had.[/quote]

Boston beat Miami with Bosh in game 5. And Boston was leading Miami with Bosh in the 4th quarter of game 7. And many impartial analysts admitted that Boston would have won that series if both teams were completely healthy.

And the major reason Lebron went off in game 6 last year and absolutely destroyed Boston is the Celtics were forced to double Wade all game long since otherwise Wade would have blown by an injured Ray Allen literally on every play. Avery Bradley is probably the best defender in the entire NBA to put on Wade while a hurt Ray Allen was close to the worst.

I've said all along the Celtics need one more front court player like a Josh Smith possibly acquired for Rondo to be a very serious championship contender this year but if the Celtics had Smith right now, I'd like their chances to beat the Heat in 6 games or so if the rest of the Celtics stayed healthy. OKC? Perhaps not since OKC is so well rounded and not as good of a matchup for Boston but that series would be close. Smith would fit the Celtics even though Smith is one of the worst outside shooters in the nba but the Celtics don't have much of an inside game at all since KG, who is aging very well, is more of a jump shooter now and Smith could get 10-12 garbage points on offense around the basket where his efficiency actually is near the tops in the league and stop taking very stupid outside shots that really completely diminish his offensive value. Atlanta uses Smith on the perimeter to space the floor but Boston already has KG to do that. Smith's arguably top 10 nba defense would allow the Celtics to have a defense that IMHO would be better then the 2008 Celtics and he would marginally improve Boston's below average offense with his offensive rebounding/garbage baskets. Yes, KG and especially PP obviously aren't as good defensively as 2008 but their supporting cast(Bradley, Lee, Smith, Green, even Barbosa) defensively would be better then the 2008 team. The only bad defender in the rotation would be Jason Terry. The Celtics would have 3 of the 10 best defenders in the nba(KG, Bradley, Smith) surrounded by other competent to very good defenders and 1 bad defender. Average offense plus truly elite #1 ranked defense is enough to win a championship many years.

On the defensive end, Avery Bradley can be a game changer. Having seen it two straight years Boston with and without Bradley, its absolutely impossible for me to come to any other conclusion. I was a fan of Tony Allen despite him sometimes being a sucker for up fakes and while Allen has more defensive versatility -- can do a better job of covering multiple positions -- Bradley is the better on ball defender on the type of players he can match up with and Wade is one of them.

In addition, the value of a player like Avery Bradley who can guard most PG's and perhaps a little over half of the 2's, rises and falls on quite a bit on who he is guarding.

Hypothetically speaking, if Avery Bradley is guarding a Derek Fisher on a team with multiple ball handlers(Kobe, Odom) then his defensive value is greatly diminished and it may make sense to not play him much at all. Why? The Lakers didn't rely that much on Fisher to bring the ball up and have other very good alternatives in Kobe and Odom to bring the ball up if need be. In addition, Bradley is great at containing/contesting all penetration but Fisher was more of just a very good spot up shooter that didn't rely much on penetration.

On the other hand, Wade is one of the best offensive players in the nba so Bradley being able to contain him 1 on 1 is a huge deal from a Celtics perspective.

Bradley is easily a top 10 defender in the entire NBA so its funny how you and many others dismiss his potential contributions when no one would dismiss the contributions of even a top 30 offensive player. Again Doc Rivers favors veterans but HOFer Ray Allen was benched for Avery Bradley. And the Celtics got much better after that happened. Bradley's offensive game this year is *well below* average and probably in the bottom 10% right now since his perimeter shooting hasn't been nearly as good as last year. No denying that and its not a surprise coming off of double shoulder surgery but he does have the potential to have above average efficiency on offense since he did last year as a starter and it wasn't a major fluke since he was known as an offensive player coming out of high school where he was a top 1-3 recruit nationally.

So while Bosh, a proven all-star, is obviously >> Bradley overall, in a head to head Miami Boston matchup, Bradley is probably the more important player especially if the Celtics are forced to double Wade since a very gimpy and old Ray Allen is assigned to guard him. And let's face it, Bosh's contributions on Miami are somewhat minimized since Bosh is best as a #1 scorer on a team and on Miami he is more or less their 3rd leading scorer. When Bosh isn't scoring he really isn't someone that contributes in a major way in the other areas. As much as I respect Bosh's game, Miami would be just as good or perhaps better with a Horace Grant type of player replacing him since Grant could also hit the mid range jump shot. A good deal of Bosh's offensive skills are wasted on the Heat.

The Heat are still obviously great because of Lebron.

CJ Miles gets a lot of flack on this board, but if he can play D and hit the 3 (covering the SG and SF positions), I'll gladly take him. He has lateral foot speed at least.

We could definitely use a CJ Miles type player. Versatile and athletic. Something we're sorely lacking at the moment. I mean, Blake, Duhon and Meeks? lol (Meeks had 14 points last game so I'm off his back for now. Hopefully he can bring it again against the Heat on Sunday)

Wish we could get Eric Gordon or Evan Turner. Highly unlikely we could get either.

clippers, sixers, and okc are looking for an all star veteran center.

according to rumors clippers are willing to trade bledsoe for garnett. maybe we can offer them gasol for bledsoe and butler instead. gasol is younger than kg. that might make the clippers consider trading for him than a 37 year old kg.

howard,hill
clark,jamison
metta,butler
kobe
nash,bledsoe

now for okc. i think a package of martin + collison for gasol is a pretty solid trade for both teams.

NBA 2k13 esque trade. Saw this on the mavericks board by a poster.

Jinra wrote:Utah gets Marion & Gasol, Lakers gets Dirk & Jefferson, Dallas gets Dwight & Millsap

Interesting trade that will never happen but would be interesting. We would role with

Nash/Blake
Kobe/Meeks/Blake
MWP/Jamison/Clark
Dirk/Clark/MWP
Al Jefferson/Clark

Iq and chemistry would be there. Defense might not but I think that teams wins 50+ games.

zero chance the thunder trade martin/collison for gasol. martin alone is having a better season than pau, he does wonders for their spacing/offense. collison too, is awesome off the bench and is a big part of their being zero drop off defensively with ibaka on the bench. and hes a decent offensive player too, great at doing the little things, setting screens, boxing out, etc.
