3-way trade:

- Cavs send Miles to L.A.
- Knicks send Kurt Thomas to L.A., Ronnie Brewer to L.A., and Steve Novak to Cleveland
- Lakers send MWP to N.Y., Devin Ebanks to Cleveland

Lakers get a new wing rotation with Miles as the new starting SF that can switch off with Kobe on defense and provide decent shooting, Brewer becomes a bench option, and Kurt Thomas can play backup minutes behind Howard.

Cleveland gets a very solid shooter at the PF spot. Playing next to Speights they can really spread the floor out for Irving and Waiters. They get a great deal since they give up a guy they're not very high on.

N.Y. sends a big man thats out of the rotation, gives up a wing that's not playing, and gives up a shooter that can't really do much other than shoot.

If Philly ever made this trade I'd laugh my arse off. First we send them a gimpy Bynum and now they finish that up by trading for a gimpy Pau? Their fans would want their GM's head served on a silver platter.

Neither Gordon nor Kaman seemingly stay healthy enough to be worthwhile.

No, not at all. I'd prefer Dwight to stay out west. A deal like that just makes too much sense for you guys.

Not really, especially when you add in health and a much lower salary...not even mentioning the important fact our chemistry would go way up and we could stop having pointless drama constantly and just focus on basketball.

I would much rather have Horford at this point to be honest. I wouldn't have thought of it at the beginning of the season, but I've seen enough from Dwight to know that he's never gonna be a #1. Even if Dwight gets back healthy (huge if) he would never last a full contract - it would be considered a bad contract long before its up, his game is all athleticism.

Also you underestimate how huge of a difference a elite 3 point shooter like Korver could make on this team. I think people are so used to pure crap for so long they've forgotten what a real one can do. It would automatically be a points increase just by percentages and it would improve the bench instantly. A guy people have to respect from outside would improve Kobe and Nash's offense a boatload. Not to mention it seems Pau/Dwight will never be a good fit

Horford has been begging for Atlanta to get a center so he can play pf, which won't make us better. having a front court of horford and Gasol.

I would much rather get chandler and shumpert for Dwight....

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=assmf5f

Paying dwight mire than 20ooo bz paying chandler 15... Means less cap space for lebron. Chandler doesn't cry for offensive touches like Dwight, who can't do jack but throw down lobs, offensively.

But I don't think.we can trade Dwight until the offseason. No team wants to take a risk of him.not signing. but we can sign.and trade him. The only teams that have a chance are big market teams.

One thing I'm thinking about.... Chris Paul. Him and Dwight are free agents. What if Chris Paul wants to come to the lakers, maybe we can do a switcharoo. Nash and Dwight for deandre and Chris Paul? Or something along those lines

Whether to trade Howard or not trade Howard IMHO from an outsider's perspective is more or less Lakers doctors evaluation more then the gm.

If he is going to return to 95%+ health, LA would be foolish to trade him for what they could realistically get for him right now. If he is going to roughly stay in his current condition due to his back, the Lakers should be entertaining deals that make sense.

I would expect him to be somewhere in between which means the Lakers should keep him. His shoulder should heal completely but his back injury may hurt him a bit going forward but not as much as now.

It is true the Howard is all athleticism which probably means he starts noticeable declining around 31 or 32 more so then other centers with overwhelming size or great skill. But he is still young enough to sign to a 5 year contract.

I think trading away Howard because it didn't work out the first year will make the Laker's organization have a very very bad reputation for other superstars who wants to come here in the future.

They'll be like man i'm just that other piece around Bryant and ill be gone if I can't play along side the mamba

The only players I would trade Dwight for is Durant, Lebron, and maybe Melo/Chandler.
Obviously a pipe dream.

I could care less what people think of him this season ( especially outsiders) while he's probably only 70% healthy.
Also factor in the fact he lost a lot of muscle mass due to his time off .
Which I'm confident he will regain 110% once he is fully recovered and has the entire offseason to work.

As I started reading this post I thought to myself "I don't rember writing this". Turns out I didn't buy certainly could have. My sentiments exactly! Only the doctors know what we can expect from Dwight going forward and fans thinking we should move the guy before we see what he can do when healthy are nuts!

We need a backup pg that can play D and a small forward that's better than stupid Metta World donk and we'll be able to compete with any team in the league.

Listen I get the whole if and when he is healthy we could be so good. However, the whole thing people keep forgetting is if a healthy Dwight LEAVES us WE ARE SCREWED with no new players and our exact same roster next year. So then what do we do? Nash, Kobe, MWP, Clark, Pau for our future. Can we make the playoffs with that team idk?

I get that we could be better if Dwight's healthy. But we have no idea if this is guy is going to walk which is scary if we get NOTHING for him.

Why not trade with golden state?

Barnes, bogut, jarret jack, and Carl landry for Dwight, ebanks, jamison, sacre, and Blake

They get ... A powerful 5: curry/k.Thompson/r. Jefferson/lee/Dwight

I'd love Harrison Barnes on a rookie contract but trading Dwight to a team in our own division would be nuts. We're in a complete state of limbo until we have an idea what we're going to get from Dwight in the future.

If u don't think that makes us stronger, I don't know what to say to u

Nash/jack/duhon
Kobe/meeks/morris
Barnes/artest
Earl Clark/landry
Gasol/bogut/hill

Stronger bench, expiring contracts, younger

It makes us stronger while Dwight is still less than 90% but it's not a great long term deal for us. As previously mentioned we really can't do much with Dwight until we know what he's going to be capable of going forward. You can bet your last dollar if Dwight gets traded before the trade deadline or the Lakers don't offer him a max contract this off-season it's because Laker management has concluded Dwight will never be the player he once was. It's only under those circumstances the Lakers can afford to let him get away.

And fwiw I'm 100% convinced the only reason Dwight suffered the shoulder injury was because he was nursing a bad back. Injuries often happen when a player is out there playing while trying to protect a different part of their body. I was hoping we'd see a 90% or > Dwight before the season was over because I know he'd win the support of the fans over with his dominant play. Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's going to happen at this point.

Your proposed deal would be far more interesting under two circumstances:
A) I thought GS would actually do the deal but no way they're giving up all that to rent Dwight for a few months.
B) If Bogut wasn't a walking injury waiting to happen.

I do like Landry and Barnes though. :)

No Thanks I rather work with what we have. The rebuild process has already begun imo.
The Lakers FO are adamant about there wishes to Not Trade D12.

When Pau is back in the lineup our weakest link is definitely the small forward position.
If the Lakers were to pull such a trade with Golden State it would definitely be a panic move. Plus Bogut makes it somewhat appealing if he could stay healthy which is pretty much impossible.
(He has never played a full season)

The Buss family does not operate this way.
The main goal for this offseason is Re-Sign Dwight, Re-Sign Easy Earl, payout Kobe and Pau there final year.
Same song for Blake and MWP I believe...

Hate to sound arrogant but its pretty much a guarantee the Lakers will land another superstar someday regardless of the outcome of some current players on the roster.
No offense but not a surprise to me that you would be pushing hard for Dwights departure outta LakerLand with a username of "LoveShaq786" :D
