Its not a 2 player draft. 2 player drafts do not exist. No one knows which one of these prospects will pan out in a few years, its all speculation.
Exactly. That's why if your draft position is high enough where other teams thinks there's real talent to be had and you don't feel the same way you trade down to accumulate more assets.
I think that if the lakers are impressed with someone enough that they prefer then over Simmons/Ingram, you just pick them at 2. I think that high in the draft you can't be self centered enough to think that you're seeing something special in someone that other teams can't see for themselves.
I dont think its about being self centered. I just think teams grade players differently and every team has different needs. There's been rumors of the Celtics desperately trying to shop their pick. I think they're buying into the whole 2 player draft thing and they are on the outside looking in. My guess is they wouldn't be shopping that pick if they had number 2 and was guaranteed either Ben or Ingram. So In theory the lakers could trade down to the 3rd spot and also make the Celtics give them their 16, and 23 depending on how much they value Ingram. Then if Buddy was their pick all along they get their guy and assets.
