I had a miniature dachshound when I was a kid that attacked a Doberman that came up to me in my yard... Chased the Doby down the street and kept going until they were both out of sight. I started wondering if I'd ever see her again.

Yeah mine was having trouble eating and had was having trouble moving her back legs. She'd still get up and walk around though and even run sometimes, but she was sort of wasting away... It was such a slow process though, I didn't really realize how bad she'd gotten until she got sick and I had to take her in... I shouldn't have let it go so long, but I was hoping she'd just pass away in her sleep or something.
This was the first dog I had to put to sleep. They lived so long, my previous dogs were my parents. It kinda puts the responsibility of pet ownership in a different light. It's not all puppies and Frisbees...
