2015 Lakers Trade Deadline thread

Seeing what the Cavs got in the Waiters trade, I'm pretty disappointed in mgmt. Clev managed to get players they could use in addition to a 1st rd pick. Why can't we do stuff like that? We got a boat load of cap room, are they really that stuck on waiting every off-season for absolute cap space? I mean it took Dall 4-5 yrs before they finally took hold of their space and what they do? MAX out a marginal player in Parsons but they always mgmt. to add picks and useful players during those times and managed to keep in contention. We have sunk to the bottom of the West and still don't seem to have any asset or that bright of a future.

Well to be fair management did get Chris Paul and Dwight.

Couple things one Hibbert sucks he's not good. He has only regressed the past couple season no way I'm trading anything for him let alone let him into our cap space. Two LApwnd has got a point management has made some big moves in years past but the smaller ones that help build a team they are terrible at. This offseason they signed just enough talent to not keep there draft pick that was an awful decision. Fans aren't going to stop watching the Lakers if we suck one year (even tho we do this year but you get the point) I'm praying we keep our draft pick this year and it doing that I hope we loose every game the rest of the season. I would like to see if Mitch and Jim can turn what we do have and turn it into some future draft picks and let Clarkson get some more run to finish out the year.

the cavs got a huge **** chucker in JR Smith who is no better than Nick Young and Shumpert who could either be a huge scrub or a decent defensive role player. the lakers have done that by getting guys like Ed Davis, Jordan Hill, etc.

what the lakers need is stars and real talent, which we can only get by tanking or getting lucky in free agency.

Smith wasn't the end all of that trade, Shumpert could help them as well in addition to that #1 pick, if they get it this summer they'll have 3 1st picks to play with and if Love leaves, Cavs still have money to get someone else in FA. I'm not saying that trade is perfect, just saying the smaller piece works and as other posted noted, yes mgmt. is good at getting big name players via trades but the smaller bits and pieces that help you now and later....well lets just say we were pretty much the 1st team who gave away a 1st pick to dump an expiring with Sasha trade when during that time frame, everybody was giving up 1st picks for expiring contracts.

Smith is a potential expiring as well....he has an early opt out and if he picks up his play with more exposure with this Cavs team who knows, maybe some (Please Use More Appropriate Word) gm out there see the short burst of brilliance offers him multiple year deal, maybe at lower rate annualy but more security. That was what Knicks fans were hoping for out of Smith.

You know that three way deal just made me feel like all teams involved either got worse or stayed the exact same as before. At least the Knicks got cap space out of it. The Cavs are just desperate and well the thunder are getting ready to let go of Jackson while basically taking away shots from Durant for this year.....

Yeah I didn't feel like it was the trade that the Cavs were looking for. I thought it was good on the Knicks and Thunder, but the Cavs are still in the hunt for that elusive big man.

yeah with the scarcity of decent big men in the league, i dont know why we still cant come up with something.

i wonder if the cavs offered us the same deal for sacre? would you guys have taken it?

in a heart beat lol Denver easily won that trade. Heck that Memphis pick could very easily become a lottery pick for Denver in a few years.

I always thought maybe the thunder would be a possibility since they could just easily swap Perkins for Hill monetarily and get immediately better but now that they've already traded a first and seem to like Adams, i don't see that as a possibility either.

Davis should be easy to trade for a pick. There's no point in even having him when we're looking to develop Randle anyways.

The more I think about it, the more I feel like the trade was made so that more minutes go to Early. Wonder if the Lakers will make a similar trade for Clarkson.
