Josh Jackson has been promised - has worked out for Lakers in LA. Has not worked out for Phoenix yet. It could be Philly but likely Lakers.

Then I hope we are as mistaken about Lonzo as most of us(me included) were about Okafor.

I'll reserve judgment on that Tweet until I see a Lakers reporter stating the same thing.

Even though i know it's super unlikely, a part of me is hoping Jackson has been promised to the Celtics. lol

How is this stuff getting leaked and why??

Seems like if it is actually Lakers brass, they are prepping people to the idea of Ball not being a Laker I guess.

I like Jackson as a prospect but with Ingram and possibly George next summer, where does he play? His shot worries me.

well the thought behind that tweet is that Jackson's agent has told the Suns that he wouldn't work out for them because he has been promised to a team ahead of them in the draft.

That suns reporter then concludes that it's likely the Lakers because Jackson has already worked out for them.

If this is true, between Jackson, Ingram and Randle, we ill be the worst shooting team on the league. Defense doesnt look good either(hope Jackson defense translates).

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2714665-if-la-lakers-draft-lonzo-ball-is-dangelo-russell-out
"D'Angelo is playing the toughest position in the NBA, and that's the point guard position. We just want him to lead a little bit more, take more responsibility ... because sometimes when everybody is young, nobody wants to hold guys accountable.

"I think sometimes when guys are young, veterans think you're just going to be passive. I wasn't a passive guy. ... I understood how to lead, even as a rookie. What I want D'Angelo to do is take this team in his hands ... and those guys will appreciate that."

Russell should take Johnson's comments as constructive criticism, but when they're coming from Ball, a player who has exactly zero minutes of NBA experience on his resume?

If he and Ball become teammates, they'll have some work to do to get on the same page.

Josh Jackson destroyed a car and threatened to beat up a college girl. Do we really want a dude like that on the team?

Can't wait until the draft.
These "leaks" and rumors will intensify before the draft, and thankfully, like most years, nothing will come of them.

1) He is the least athletic in terms of speed, quickness and strength pound for pound than any of the top five. Hence, his potential defensively at PG is limited. That is not what we need, especially if we are going to keep Russell at 2-guard.

2) He has no mid-range game primarily due to his slow crank it up from the hip set shot. Looks to me like he was a two-handed shooter for too long and never really adjusted. It'll take years for him to change that.

3) "The Lakers need a leader and I'm the one." Right, he's going to come in and show Russell/Randle/JC et al ... how it's done and lead them. His reality testing is not unlike his dad's, just more carefully wrapped.

Can't wait for June 22...

Although I'm not too worried about your first two reasons.

Your third reason is actually something people should pay attention to. Lonzo will definitely not be the leader his first year, the only way he will lead this team is if he actually is as good as Magic Johnson. And I do not see that happening. I believe he will struggle in his rookie year like Ingram, but not as bad. Lonzo is a raw prospect that could turn into something special. If I were to make the decision on who to draft for the second overall pick it would either be Jackson or Ball (can't decide; happy with either).

But no way in hell do I pick De'Aaron Fox (No disrespect to you)... To be honest I wouldn't pick him in my top 10.

Isn't that essentially the exact same thing Russell said? And keeps saying... This isn't Kobe or LeBron we're talking about it's essentially 3rd year Randle and Russell, and second year Ingram... We're clearly drafting him to be the leader of this team, if not in his first season, then he should make an impact immediately and come on strong in his second season.

No way is that a mark against him.

I'm not saying this is a reason we shouldn't draft Lonzo. I just can't see Lonzo being the leader day 1. He needs to prove himself first. That's all i'm trying to say.

#1 Celtics - Fultz

#4 Suns - Tatum
#5 Lakers via Kings - Jackson
#6 Magic - Isaac
#7 Wolves - Markkanen
#8 Knicks - Smith Jr.
#9 Mavs - Ntilikina
#10 Lakers via Kings - Monk

Lakers trade Russell, receive #5 and #10
76ers trade #3, receive Russell

Come on Ty if he has been promised and he won't work out for the suns it is obviously because he is getting picked in the top 3. Seriously doubt Jackson's agent would want to create bad blood with the Suns by backstabbing them like that.

Besides I think there is a good chance that promise was given by Philly.

Meanwhile, the Suns traveled to LA to watch Tatum work out.

And if the Lakers promised Jackson, with Kings looking to move up to get Fox, don't you think he would skip a workout for the #4 Suns to get picked by LA at #5??

I really like Russell, and believe he will have a breakout year, but this made me think... Where Ingram would play in this scenario? Why the Kings would give up a #10 pick to draft Fox if he can(probably will) fall to #5?
