Chick Hearn statue will be unveiled at Staples Center

http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/news/story?id=5084512A statue of former Lakers announcer Chick Hearn will be unveiled next week in front of Staples Center prior to Game 2 of the team's first-round playoff series, sources close to the team told ESPNLosAngeles.com late Tuesday.
The likeness of Hearn, voice of the Lakers for 42 years until his death in 2002, will be seated at a table wearing headphones and appearing to speak into a microphone. The work of art includes an empty seat next to him for fans who want to pose as his analyst.
So awesome.

This should've happend WAAAAAAAAAAY before Oscar got his lame statue lol
The only statue greats at Staples should be Magic, Chick and Gretzky.......eventually Kobe once its all said and done in his career.
Congrats to Chicky baby and wife Marge! The Jell-o is still jiggling!

Yes... yes I have. I stand corrected, only 5 statue greats, KAJ, Magic, Chick Hearn, Gretzky and Kobe
I would say Shaq too, but a retired jersey should be enough. Besides a Shaq statue will needs it own bldg codes and clearances to break ground.

I never followed hockey either but im pretty sure hes considered hockeys GOAT and he played for la.

Oscars statue looks so lame out there. They should at least make everyone the same ration. Its like a hobit and magic is larger than life.
I know Oscar is small and Magic is big but it just doesnt fit... also why are we mixing all the sports out front. Lets move Oscar over next to the ESPN beer fest so some drunk guys will pick a fight with him.

I know he played for LA and is the GOAT, but he never brought a championship and he's not from LA. Kareem is far more deserving.
