Kobe Might Not Splint His Finger During the Playoffs

Post#1 » by Plastered » Fri Apr 16, 2010 3:23 am

Saw him going through some warmups without the splint on, looked fluid. Never really understood the splint anyway because if the splint gets hit, it drags the whole finger along which is more likely to hurt the avulsion fracture. This way the finger has more freedom to move, which should help his follow through, and shouldn't place as much stress on the fracture. I could be wrong though, thoughts?

Kobe Bryant has been doing his practice shooting recently without the usual splint for his fractured right index finger, and he is considering ditching the support for the postseason, which begins Sunday.

It’s no coincidence that Bryant’s experimentation comes right before the serious part of the championship defense. While working on his shooting before the Lakers’ game Wednesday night, he was not wearing the splint.

Have you ever worn a splint?

Thats some crazy stuff there. There is no player in the world that can adjust his jumpshots like Kobe can. every time he messes up a finger he says I will just change up my form. I think he should have tried in the game against the Blazers before just starting at the playoffs. If he doesnt get used to in in game situations, there could be some negative ramifications.

Yeah I saw him practicing without it before Denver. I had a feeling he might be preparing to do this. Its been quite a while since the injury, it should be pretty strong by now. Plus with the days off he's been able to adjust it without having to worry about putting it back on for a game. Hopefully it will help his handle a bit.

A fractured finger does not get better or heal. A fractured finger is a fractured finger.

yeah he tried this a couple months ago I think, it didn't work. Doubt it got stronger since then since it's continually getting hit. May as well stick with the splint and prevent further damage and inflammation.
