TNT Question...Intriguing...

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Fri Apr 16, 2010 9:26 am

Ernie asked who's the rookie of the year? Curry, Evans, Jennings. Kenny said Jennings, Chuck said Evans.

Then Ernie asked a better question. Who of those three rooks will be the better pro?

Chuck & Kenny each picked Evans. Kenny also added Evans will because he's more versatile, likely he'll move to a different position.

I myself think Curry will be the best pro. He's got so many pluses. He plays so effortless and smooth, he can pull from anywhere, has incredible handles, he rarely has to go in the paint to score because of his perfect shot (less wear and tear), his game is so quick, and that's only partly due to his feet, he has quick hands, a quick release, elusive dribble. He'll have a long succesful injury free career.

Last question if there was a redraft how would you slot them?

I'd say... (Games they remind me of...)
1. Curry (Steve Nashty)
2. Evans (Labronica James)
3. Jennings (Nick Van Exel, lol)

I did pretty bad at that draft. I liked Thabeet #1, because Blake already had a preexsisting knee issue and so much of his game was based on his athletisism. I'm not giving up on Thabeet!

I love to slot guys at the 1-5 spot, but in todays NBA you just can't do that. I thought Evans was going to be pushed to a 2, didn't like that becuse he wasn't a shooter, and Curry was truly a 2 guard eventhough he played pg his last year, I thought there was no way he could survive at an off guard spot, both have adjusted seemlessly. I knew very little about Jennings other than he made a great decision to play in Italy for a year, what a great opportunity, and a brilliant move.

The worst part of last years draft was DEN raping MIN to snag Ty Lawson (15th pick I think) I about lost it with that pick, steal of the draft. He was really the best PG in the NCAA's. Flynn made so much noise with that amazing OT game, Evans made noise, but Lawson was such a force in college, unguardable, but often injured. UNC was a very good team without him, but with him they were clearly the best team int he NCAA's.

Evans > Curry, now and in the long run. Curry just plays in a system that encourages fast breaks, quick shots, green light from anywhere for anyone the entire game and it shows.

Evans might be better, but I like Curry more. I thought he was outstanding every time I saw him this year. The shooting was a given, but his court vision shocked me. He has legitimate playmaking skills. Lack of size/strength is going to be an issue, but otherwise you're right -- he's going to be awesome for a long, long time.

I'd still take Blake 1st

What Jennings is doing is amazing. He is not strong like Billups nor has earned a big shot reputation. But the kid seems to be a winner naturally. I have no doubt that even though he is not made for the triangle at all that he could adapt his game if he was here in LA. He knows how to do what his team needs and I like the kid.

Curry is over rated as players usually are on the Warriors. He can shoot and he will be a multi all-star but I dont see him being a NBA champion.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

He scored 42 points, got 9 rebounds and 9 assists and 4 steals or something in the final game, vs portland, one of hte best defense in the nba. Even if he is over rated, he's good for 30 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assits and 3 steals (i lowered his stats to "adjust" for playing on the warriors) and he's still amazing. He's putting up better numbers than monta ellis has his entire career

Evans will never be a top 3 guy on a .600 team unless his jumpshot improves drastically.
