Funny you should bring that up. Me and My Mom were talking about that after the game. See my Mom reads the Tabloids and what not. She also listens to alot talk radio in Los Angeles.

My Mom being the source on this....LOL Says that the Kobe's Parents and Vanessa's parents don't get along and have not had good relations since way back. Some of you know the story of him dating Vanessa back then, so I won't repeat it in detail here. I mean who cares really. So after Kobe and Vanessa got married. They were distant from Kobe's parents and were closer with Vanessa's family. This went on for some time. After Kobe's legal issues is when it really hit the fan. For some reason that really too complicated and drama filled to elaborate here Joe and Kobe fell completely stop talking. Kobe's parents moved out of Los Angeles and Kobe only spoke to them via family mediators. Fast forward to today. It seems that Kobe was wanting his girls to become closer to his folks so he decided to reconnect with his parents. Also being that he wanted them to be a part of his final years as a player. Kobe's parents were huge for him back when he was a kid as far as Bball is concerned. I mean really, someone had to drive him to all those away AAU games. That killer jumper who do you think taught him that. Kobe will tell anyone who asks that the rock solid fundamentals of his game began with his Dad.

Yeah Shaq's step dad used to be all over the place back in the day commercials and everything. I think Kenyon Martin's mom was pretty crazy, don't hear much from her anymore. Didn't she use start fights in the stands at games?! LOL
