Simmons(theCelticfanboy) says Bosh for Bynum Deal is Done?

Rhettmatic wrote:On the BS Report today, Bill Simmons and Marc Stein kicked around some things they'd heard around the league. These are just rumours, and unsubstantiated ones at that.

Simmons claimed that he had heard from a "very connected person" who heard from another "very connected person" that the Bosh-Bynum deal is done. Actually done, already agreed upon. Even he seemed a bit skeptical.

Stein, meanwhile, said he's heard whispering about a Bosh-David Lee deal. He says it makes no sense for the Raptors with Bargnani already here, but says that the Raptors are "pretty big David Lee fans."

Here's the link:

(Talk begins around 46:55)

Just to emphasize, this is absolutely just a rumour. Even the guys on the podcast acknowledge that.

This isn't the first I have heard of this deal... I spoke at length with my boy a few times and he has told me that there is "mutual interest and advanced dialog" in the event Bosh plays hardball with Toronto... Apparently, Bosh has stated that he prefers LA to New York or Miami and the general consesnsus is that Amare will end up in Miami... In addition, Toronot feels Bargnani is a natural 4 not a 5 and could complement a legit back to the basket player very well... There appears to be some "legs" to this one...

This would make the Lakers even better. And the Raptors are getting Bynum which is the best they can do for Bosh.

No No No.

How is this deal done in late April? The Lakers have a championship to worry about. ESPN comes out with this crap to try and mess with Bynum's head I'm guessing.

I don't want that dinosaur looking thing anywhere near the Lakers unless hes playing us. Why would the Lakers get him? If anyone thinks that the Lakers have too many egos and too many stars now then I don't know why we would go for Bosh. Who would be the number 1/2/3 options? Bosh has stated in the past that he wants to be the man. Pau Gasol has pretty much established himself as a number 2 option and Andrew is the 3rd option and is capable of being a number 2 option. Kobe ain't giving up his role as the "man" either. On top of all this Bynum is playing well for us during the playoffs thus far.

If the Lakers already have a clear cut number 2 option then why get someone who is going to want to play that role. No way in hell Bosh plays the 3rd option and it sure as hell won't be fair to Pau to make him play the 3rd option. If this goes through it will cause some problems with chemistry. I've never been a fan of Bosh's attitude. The defense would probably get weaker to because Bynum is actually better at D than Bosh is.

Definitely. But Bosh stated he wants to be built around during the all-star break. He might have changed his mind. This guy said it's actually Bosh that prefers to be in L.A.

Maybe it would change the chemistry but this rumor has been floating around for a while and the Lakers haven't denied it. OKC denied the Bosh to OKC rumors immediately but this one hasn't been denied by either team and has been around for longer.

If Mitch & the organization really wanted this, it would of happened at the deadline.

THAT would have screwed up the chemistry. And the Raptors were confident Bosh would re-sign at the deadline as they were 5th in the East. Or at least they weren't looking to trade him.

Raptors were winning games and Lakers were number 1 in the west. Why would either of them have done that.

Bosh is actually a very humble person. I would imagine that he would do anything that Phil Jackson asked him to do. He hasn't shown anything in his character other than trying to be the absolute best player he can be.

Bill Simmons isn't a very reliable source but it isn't the first time this thing has come up.

This is the proper response for this rumor and the trade itself.

about the trade

"bynum and gasol can't coexsit"

the reason I think both struggled early in the season was because gasol was not healthy and hes obviously experiencing fatigue.

but late in the season before bynum got injured and gasol seemed to be fully healthy...they were both playing great and were very efficient.

same in the playoffs of 2009...bynum was not 100%

now this year's playoffs, so far they been great..and they're one of the main reasons we've been winning games...plus they're doing this playing with poor three point shooting perimeter guards to space the floor for them.

if the bynum-gasol experiment "isnt working," what makes you so certain that a gasol-bosh combo would?

not trying to prove a point or anything here.. i just want to hear some answers from the people who think this is the right thing to do..... im in favor of bynum right now.. why is this good? convince me.

Get a damn PG nut heads!

That said, Bill Simmons is doing his best to screw with us during the playoffs. Never believe that Celtic homer in regards to LA.

I think the Raptors would be fully willing to throw in one of Jose Calderon or Jarrett Jack into the deal.

I love how "Bosh wants to be a #1 option" is always a go-to excuse from Raptors fans as to why he won't go to Miami, but when it comes to the Lakers and getting Bynum back, he will be more than happy to take a backseat to Kobe and Gasol.

:D
