I cant believe this guy. He was really horrendous for us all season long, but he stepped up big in the post-season, and he's still clutch. Great job Fish!!

Well, I'm not sorry. Despite him playing well in this one game, we still have a terrible pg rotation and need to get that fixed this summer. We would less often find ourselves in the spot where we need a shot like that if we had better point guards.
So yeah, nice shot, but he should still not be a starter on any team with championship aspirations imo.

Fisher is Deron Williams Cryptonite... He's all up in that dome. You can just see it.
It was one game on a court that was once his home court. It's an anomoly... I just hope it lasts one more game or gets him going...
Fish, I'm sorry... But you're still old and slow as hell.
But good game.
This is exactly why you want a vet like Fish on this team in the playoffs... Cause in one or 2 critical games, vets like Fish find a way to make a difference.
Anybody remember how horrible Horry was in the regular season?

Some of you guys never cease to amaze me with how ungrateful you can be. Fisher delivered in the finals against the magic and he did it again last night at a time when other guys (see ron in the final mins) tightened up. Stfu about fish already.

I think if we got Hinrich, Phil would have ran him off the bench. Fisher would benefit more from being around the starters since Hinrich can holds his own. We wouldn't need all that "star power" in the starting unit with Hinrich there to help solidify the bench. The 2nd unit always seemed to have problems getting the ball to the bigs so Hinrich would help that a lot. He would be the better option off the bench because our 2nd unit almost always has Gasol or Bynum paired up with Lamar. Even though he wouldn't have Kobe and Artest around him as much he would still have the bigs and since most 2nd units in this league are small compared to ours, the bigs would dominate.
However like you said about defensive assignments, I think Phil would obviously give Kirk more play time with the starting unit if Fisher had a major mismatch against the opposing teams starting point guards if Fisher couldn't guard the other teams SG. For example Fisher is probably going to be guarding Nash full time since J Rich is just as bad of a match up for him. If you had Hinrich then he would probably be guarding Nash the entire time and only be on the bench when Nash was on the bench.

Official I'm sorry Fisher thread? What are we sorry for? Fisher mailed it in during the regular season.
He shot 38% from the field. I've been meaning to count the games he went 0 for something or 1-7...I listed his FG numbers from the games he shot 40% and under. 48 games in total:
Code: Select all
1. 2-8
2. 2-9
3. 0-5
4. 0-5
5. 3-13
6. 0-3
7. 2-6
8. 2-5
9. 4-10
10. 2-5
11. 2-5
12. 0-2
13. 2-10
14. 0-2
15. 4-10
16. 3-8
17. 3-11
18. 1-7
19. 2-6
20. 1-10
21. 1-4
22. 1-3
23. 2-6
24. 1-4
25. 1-8
26. 2-5
27. 2-6
28. 2-6
29. 1-6
30. 2-7
31. 2-6
32. 1-9
33. 3-13
34. 3-11
35. 3-8
36. 1-5
37. 4-12
38. 2-5
39. 2-7
40. 0-6
41. 1-4
42. 1-5
43. 2-6
44. 3-11
45. 1-6
46. 2-11
47. 0-5
48. 2-7
And that's not talking about defense...
Has Fish picked up his game in the playoffs? You bet he has. He has Deron's number. And he has a lot to be proud of, last game especially. It was one of those special nights. But to make some thread acting like we need to apologize for that ^ is absurd.
I can see if Fish ever came out and said to Phil "play me wherever you want." Then that'd be one thing. But he did nothing of the sort, and has held the starting PG gig for hostage, as if we owe it to him.
Would love to see any other 6th option on any team play this way and still feel entitled.
People are making it out like Fisher's Robert Horry. Horry literally took the regular season off, and I'm pretty sure he came off the bench.
Am I sorry that we called out Fish? No. And no matter how many more of these games he has in the playoffs I still won't be.
Our goal was
home court advantage. If Fisher played like he's apparently still capable of, or even took a few of his 3-11 or 0-6 nights off, rested, and let Farmar get some experience we could be in a different situation right now.
If we make it to the finals, we're also going to have to do it on the wrong side of history.
Hopefully if Fisher's around next season he takes a page from Rob's book.

You guys act like nobody wants him on the team. That is not the case. We like him on our team but not as a starter. Does Fisher not being a starter mean he can't come in at the end of games during crunch time? Not at all. Just look at Lamar. Phil brings him in at the end of games whether or not Drew has a a good game. If we had a capable starting point guard, Phil could very well do the same with Fisher. Don't go and turn this around on everyone else.

Fisher's always been huge for us in the playoffs. Even in the middle of a game (as opposed to the end) he'll hit big shots for the team. Sure he's sucked for 82 games, but huge props to him for stepping up so far in these playoffs. I'll take 16 games of "playoff Fish" every season if it ends with a chip.

The point is Fisher made it impossible for PJ to bench him.

One of my favorite Lakers of all time. And no duh he's declined. D-Fish is a shell of his former self per 48 minutes, but I never understood the bashing of some fans (Laker fans) towards him. Some of you, not all, should be ashamed of yourselves to even call yourselves fans of the Lakers. Its as you've all forgotten the battles he's helped the team fought over the years and who the guy is. A Laker for life and of the teams best role players over the years.
If Saturday's game tells me anything, its that we can still very much rely on Fish to take big shots when they present themselves so, you all need to chill and stop knocking on him for what he can't do because being up there in age and declined is out of his control. Give him the respect he deserves. Its not as if we have Derrick Rose sitting on the bench.
(Which reminds, I probably don't want to be around here the moment Bryant starts to decline, some you guys are going to be brutal to stand, pathetic)
