OT: Red Dead Redeption

Post#1 » by DubaLakers » Tue May 11, 2010 6:30 pm

I'm posting this because it looks to me a huge monster hit, and it has a nice purchase bonus, and I like to save my Laker brethren cash if I can

I'm sure many of you have heard of this game that have a gaming platform, but if not I thought I'd share, as well as give you a purchase tip if you are considering buying the game...

Red Dead Redemption was made by Rockstar Games, the same guys that did Grand Theft Auto 4. I personally wasn't a big fan of that game, the sandbox game (open world) was different, but the chores were annoying at times, but the driving was a blast and I definitley understood why people would love it. RDR, this game looks like it could be even bigger than GTA4. It's the old west, Cowboys, good and bad guys, It has huge buzz, it has a huge multiplayer online setup with tons of variety, the graphics look outstanding, as well as the detail. It looks like it could be a 9+ game, possibly a 10.

Purchase tip: I buy the majority of my games from Amazon, no tax, no shipping (if you can wait), release date delivery (get the game day 1 with a discounted shipping rate, usually every huge release has this option of shipping), and they offer bonuses all the time, that are frequently better than cough Game Rape's cough Game Stop's bonuses. RDR is available for Release Date shipping for $5.98.

For example RDR is 59.99, no tax, no shipping (if you can wait), plus you get a $20 gift card for a future Amazon Purchase. That's free money. I'm going to use that for Madden 11 likely which also has a $20 gift card for a future Amazon purchase.

Here's the TRAILER in the 1ST CLIP and the MULTIPLAYER TRAILER in the 2ND CLIP...

Thx for posting Duba, this game caught my eye. And if the online gameplay is as intresting as the game itself, I may (pardon the pun) pull the trigger on it.

Right now, I'm playing Battlefield 2 so don't have alot of free gaimng time with the exception of the 1 or 2 pickup games of NBA 2K every other day. But I just saw the online gameplay trailer and it does look sweet.

I may have to make time.

He is talking about a video game. We don't have 18 threads on the Suns like you guys do on the Lakers. It's ok.. you can get back to your good vs. evil fairy tales.

I've also been keeping a lookout for this game. I still haven't purchased any current gen console because none of the title caught my eye and I'm not that into gaming nowadays. This is one game where I might buy a X360 for, still waiting for people to review it before I make a decision.

You're probably safe, it's a rockstar game and they always make quality titles. Also, it just got a 9.75 review in gameinformer magazine, looks legit.

"The game perfectly captures the expansiveness of frontier life and the gritty gunplay of spaghetti westerns, rightfully earning its place alongside the great Western films and the best Rockstar games."

Amazon still has a $20 Amazon credit and no tax, no shipping if you can wait a week I did or you can pay for shipping to get it sooner. I just reserved mine, but because I waited, I missed out on the golden guns bonus :(. They stopped giving the $20 credit, but today put it back on to match Wallmart.

Wallmart online is also $20 Wallmart credit internet only it said, free shipping, but you have to pay tax.

Fry's is $49.99 plus tax, but you have to pick it up in store.

This game is amazing I'm glad they are offering the 20 buck credit cause I buy games from them all the time. I paid for early delivery though so that 20 bucks makes up for the extra cash to get it today.

If you enjoy sandbox games like GTA or Saint's Row or something and like Westerns this is a match made in heaven. Westerns are also a bit more untapped then your standard action game that uses guns these days which are usually WW II, Modern Day, or Alien/Sc-Fi stuff.

I think this will probably go down as the greatest Western video game ever made. I think for those with both systems will be happy with either one the graphics are nearly identical from what I hear.

wow this game is sick...I never heard anything about it until I saw a commercial tonight, and the trailers in the thread.

I only play Madden and NCAA Football on XBox...I might have to get this though. You guys are saying its $20 off if you order it on Amazon or Walmart.com???
