Who you want from East, Celtics or Magic?

Post#1 » by XonezIOIzenoX » Fri May 14, 2010 3:04 am

I really want to know from the la lakers side of fans to see what your opinions on this match up and what team you guys want the most. I feel like Boston Celtics can give you guys a very tough series compare to the Magic (who is my team i am rooting for). I know though you guys want that 2008 revenge against Boston. I know you guys have to face Pheonix Suns in WCF, but if you guys were to make it to the finals, which team of the east..

p.s. If i were a la laker fan from 09 till now, i would want the magic to beat boston, just because boston is looking tough in each series.

Hopefully that was just a CLE team that got lost in the headlights, and Boston took advantage of it. If Boston's is back I don't like it. They're old sure, but they appear healthier than they've been all season. They scare me more than Orlando, because they know how to execute, they scrap, they have the experience, they have an excellent coaching staff, and they have a fantastic point guard. Go Magic!

HCA yes, favorable match up- I don't believe this to be the case. Boston team defense is the best vs a team that relies alot on one guy. As proven tonight and 2 yrs ago. They will swarm Kobe when he attacks the rim and force him into difficult jump shots. Kobe being that he will probably take the bait will force bad shots against this Celtic team. Success is predicated in having the likes of Pau, Drew, LO and guards all playing well. Pau is the only one I trust to consistantly show up. Will others?

The magic have a tendency to forget Howard and settle for 3s. If we attack the paint, more often than not we will win. In a series, the team that dominates PIP and rebounds, usually wins out.

But honestly, I do want revenge vs the Cs*.

Celtics play our tempo and we can force a quicker pace on them and our strategy with Kobe on Rondo with shot blockers inisde would suit much better than having Nelson bomb away 3s all day long on pick n pops with dwight.

The Magic have home court through out the rest of the playoffs. The Magic will win the NBA Championship not because of it but it's one of the factors. The Magic will beat the Lakers 4 -2 in the 2010 NBA Finals avenging last years defeat. Good Night.

I think we got better since we last met Boston in the finals and I think Boston isn't quite as good as they were then.

I think Orlando is on a mission, but I wasn't too impressed by the sweep of the Hawks... The sweep of Charlotte was more impressive... But they definately didn't have the same road Boston had... So they're a bit of an unknown to me.

I want to beat Boston... I want to do it on their floor so they have to watch the celebration.
It also appeals to my traditional side...

Do you even have to choose at this stage ? I mean, it's tough !

The Lakers may have an easier life vs Magic, but that will require an extra-effort to win one on the road and defend the homecourt. Magic seem a better and more experienced team this season. Last'year, both their PGs were struggling against us. It may not be the case this year. You never know !?

Celtics ? Wouldn't find anything sweeter than beating them clearly in the finals ! But that guy Rondo, will require a lot of attention, and knowing that Kobe will be put on him, which will make Kobe to work harder on both ends, will be as tough as never before. Fishy will be erased from the court by Rondo on defense. Ray Allen is still scary when he's getting hot, KG seems healthy etc. etc. etc.

I really want the Lakers to win the title this year, even much more than last year, and I know I can rely on Kobe and Pau, on Fisher, Artest and Bynum, because they want it even more, especially Kobe. I understand his feelings right now as I feel how important that will be for him, especially after Cavs and Shaq got eliminated.

Yes........why do these stupid threads pop up from outsiders ? Who the hell cares about the other series ? Of the 4 teams left last I remember you had to win a series first to play in a Final.

I hate the Suns but I won't disrespect that team or their fan base like that, and you wonder why Laker fans get called out for being arrogant ?

Because of threads like these, yeah we know in our minds hearts on who we would like to face. But why post it ?

Phoenix is a solid team and they were playing well but I would wonder how the layoff
is going to affect them and if they don't get Robin Lopez back, I would think Andrew,
Pau and Lamar are going to neutralize Amare. LA should be able to beat the Suns in
six games.

Suns - sweet revenge

Celtics - sweeter revenge!!!

Here is a weird scenario and I know its just what if. In the 2007 Finals we should have won games 1 and 4. IF we did and had a rematch with the Magic and Kobe was going for his 6th ring, wouldnt it have had so much simularity to the Bulls-Jazz rematch in 98 when Jordan went for his 6th ring. Its crazy but we were this close to closing in on PJs 4th 3 peat this year. Oh well. We lost but if Bynum played man oh man what could have been.

Just win a championship this year and I'm happy!!!

You ALWAYS take home court in the Finals, always. Especially with the 2-3-2 format. If the Home team wins the first two games, the series is essentially over. The Lakers have only lost 3 games in a row 1 time in the Gasol era which has been about 2 1/2 years.

Good post, Al. I'd want homecourt regardless, but if it was a neutral court, I'd much rather play Orlando. I'm honestly stunned the Celtics have turned it around -- I had them totally written off about a month ago -- but their defense is looking really, really good. I can totally see them forcing us to rely on Fish and Artest to make 3s to win -- and that isn't going to work.
