We know for sure 34 and 8 and/or24 is going up to the rafters, but #5 wouldnt look too bad up there AT ALL.

Absolutely not IMO. Horry was an amazing role player, but we don't retire the number of role players.

The Lakers have never retired the number of someone who wasn't a hall of famer. It took Gail Goodrich until about 1996-1997 to get his jersey retired when he finally made the hall of fame (Eddie Jones wore nr 25 at first remember?).

We only retire the numbers of the true greats (though Goodrich and Worthy clearly are a step below the other players we have retired). Horry doesn't fit that category imo.

We'll retire Shaq's 34 and Kobe's 24 (or 8 or both), and maybe Gasol's 16 IF he makes the hall of fame (which he still has some catching up to achieve).

Stockpiling rings in weak era? Ouch.

Try being consistent for the duration of your franchise's existence. As soon as Pierce gets stabbed again you're going to be insignificant for another two decades.

oh, a stabbing joke....real nice. classy too. you should be proud of LA's best homegrown player. weak era?!? you want to talk about weak. how about the lakers .500 winning percentage in the finals?!? that's weak!! heck, the celtics win 85% the time they get there.

your own Minneapolis Lakers won 5 titles before the celtics won their first one, so what are those then?!?

a wheelchair joke would have been more appropriate.

the wheelchair joke is played out, but i would rather people say stuff like that them trying to be funny by using pierce's stabbing as dig at him. that is just classless and lame.

If players like Cooper and Wilkes' numbers haven't been retired yet there no place for Horry's number on that wall same will go for Fisher or even Fox. The next 2 jerseys to go up there will be Shaq after him will be Kobe maybe eventually Gasol and with a much smaller chance Jamal Wilkes' he was a finalist in this years Hall of Fame voting. I wonder if the Lakers will one day give Phil and Riley some kind of honor considering they are the 2 most successful coaches in Lakers history I mean they do have John Kundla's name is up there.

Cut out the stab jokes etc. Those things have no place on these boards.

beantowski; you have to admit that losing in the finals is more impressive than not making the finals though?

No, losing in your own conference is definitely more impressive than making it to/losing in the NBA Finals. ;)

Players who get there jerseys hung have to have made a great impact and be a key player for that too happen. Hey if Horry hets his number hung they should also put Shaq there.
