Bynum Has Knee Drained, Hopes for More Mobility

Lakers center Andrew Bynum had his right knee aspirated (drained) on Monday morning by Lakers team physician Dr. Steve Lombardo, according to Lakers spokesman John Black.
http://my.lakers.com/blogs/2010/05/31/5 ... rew-bynum/Kobe has responded pretty well since he had this done, hopefully Andrew can do the same. But man, something about getting your knee "drained" sounds like a pretty disgusting and painful process.

Bynum had 70cc's of fluid drained from his knee today folks, almost double what Kobe had drained. Doctors are hoping for more mobility come Thursday. This could be great news, and it is now guaranteed he won't practice all week like Kobe didn't before the Utah series.

Bynum had right knee drained -- or "aspirated," as Lakers trainers are calling it -- today in hopes of more mobility in Finals. 21 minutes ago via UberTwitter
Mike Bresnahan:
Bynum just had 70 cc drained from his ailing right knee. Almost twice as much as Kobe. It's a lot. How will he fare? To be answered Thursday 31 minutes ago via web

i'm glad he's decided to tough it out, even though he's been very ineffective at times. that suns series was murder for the lakers bigs in terms of foul trouble.

Hopefully, this helps Andrew's mobility because it was clear he was having trouble against Phoenix. I think Andrew will also be glad to see Perkins as opposed to Lopez, Stoudemire and Frye. He should be more effective against a less mobile, more physical Celtic front line.

It will help him some what, but not a whole lot. His knees issues sadly appears that it will be something he will have to fight everyday with for the rest of his career. The fluid in his knee is going to return quickly, because he has bad knees. Fluid in the knees is a side effect from damage done to the knee. Kobe's fluid in his knee is from wear over a long period of time. Bynum fluid is because he has bad knees period.

What he really needs to do is check his sack and see where his balls are. I hope he has been saving his energy and his knees for the finals cause so far he's been M.I.A .

Isn't this the second time he's had this done this playoff run? Didn't seem to help the first time.
Please let the Bosh for Bynum trade go through.

He's the Xfactor for this series. 15/10 would be amazing.

An efficient Bynum will make it a lot easier for the Lakers. We need him mobile in order to close the road in front of Rondo, in order to get easy baskets when the Celtics will force a double team on Kobe or Pau.
Hope from all my heart that Andrew will do not well, but very well in the finals.

This....Boston isn't a high tempo team, pace will favor us in any form they display it. Boston fans are so stuck on "if our defense gets set, we stop the Lakers offense easily". What a bunch of BS, Kobe just said after the Suns series that they can adjust to any style. How quickly people forget all those battles with the Spurs were never horse races, they were like watching syrup run down a plate.
This will help Drew and ease the stress on his knees, Boston about to have their hands full.

Who do we go to to score though is the question. This team is still a very effective defensive group. We need a second mismatch. I'm looking at Garnett as the guy to attack. Perkins isn't the weak-side defender that Garnett is. Attack Garnett directly on every play. I don't think Bryant-Gasol have slowed in their ability to challenge to pick-and-roll however Garnett has. A fair evaluation of these two teams would be the match-up Christmas Day 2008 not so much the Finals games.

I dunno about 15/10, but maybe 12/8 in somewhat limited minutes and a few really nice games on both ends
