Doc Rivers complains about Refs. Fisher is a flopper

Post#1 » by LAKERFAN24 » Wed Jun 9, 2010 8:33 pm

After Kobe got taken out of the game 2 because of Allen and Pierce flops, now Doc Rivers has the nerves to call out Fish on his flopping and also he's complaining about all the moving screens on the Lakers wow.

Doc Rivers is a joke. He has no right to ever mention a flop by an opposing player... he has Paul Pierce on his team. Dude flops like a fish out of water every game.

There has been a lot of flopping this series. Ray Ray has flopped a couple of times too. Sometimes its funny watching it on replay because you don't know how these guys get away with it.

If your team does something, you can't call out another team for doing it. Rivers has a collection of actors on his team. I thought he was a classy coach who could just roll with the punches, but really, just accept the loss, suck it up, and stfu. Fisher wasn't flopping when he was dropping key shots in the final quarter last night.

he's just repeating the actions of his idol- Phil Jackson

however... please do call attention to moving screens because I hardly ever see the Lakers do it, but Boston might be the worst offenders I've ever seen.

i was thinking the same thing you guys...how can you call us out...but at lest he is trying to get calls his way..the officiating has been awful for both sides.the flops, the hacking, just terible.
How's this for an almost unbelievable Laker trivia: The Lakers will miss the playoffs this year for the 3rd time since 1976.

I honestly don't know what he's talking about with the screens. Bynum sounds like the only one who would do that on this team, and it's never caught my attention.

Boston however, will do illegal screens as if it's part of the set play. I hope he didn't omit any of those Garnett screens. The guy leans into his screens a lot, throws his elbow and shoulders into people. Seems most of Boston's bigs' picked up this habit.

Doc really needs to just shut up before the officiating gets worse for him. If the refs start calling these things tighter, Scalabrini and Sheldon Williams will be logging 45 minutes a game for the rest of the season.

Really bad quality but here's footage from the 2008 Finals where it took 4 illegal screens from KG alone, before they finally blew the whistle. Looks like Pierce set a bad screen on Fish, as well.

Be careful what you wish for Doc.

Illegal Screens/Moving Picks should have a picture of the Kg/Perkins in the dictionary

I don't care about the flops either way because they are so easily exposed as much as I go postal when KG does his illegal screens and holds and butchers with his long arms and the refs supposedly don't see it. I like KG's offensive game, he's got a nice mix, and it's hard to stop when he's on, but defensivly he gets away with murder.

I find it odd the article says he didn't say anything to warrant a fine, when this is about a big of a blast of officials I've ever seen. :o

It will be interesting to see the league reaction to his comments, and to see if there will be any effect on the officiating tomorrow.
I hope this backfires on him and the C's. Sounds pretty desperate on his part to be this agressive with his criticism of the officials and of the Lakers.
As far as moving screens, I have never seen a team set as much illegal screens as I see from the C's. They're entire offense is based on picks, and pick and rolls etc... They are very good at it. Perkins, KG, and Davis set very hard screens, but they move all the time, and they also hold as they set the screens.
I know all teams do this to a certain extent, but because of the nature of their offense, the C's are much more aggressive with their picks.

I understand Doc has to do what he has to do. But how he has done it was a little ridiculous. Completely discounting Derek Fisher's defense that is actually his effort plus a great team defense. The Lakers rotation and help is always on par, of course anticipating more if its a quicker guard but he can get up on players more because he can trust his backups. Couple that with his smarts and flat out effort, you are cheapening a great veteran player's finals and overall playoff performance.

It's been bad officiating all series. However, its been very even. Everyone will point to the total fouls, 3 more per game on the C's. Well, 1) They were down in 2 of 3 of them now at the end, if thats not common sense to anyone that sees this, just stop watching. 2) FT's have been non existent, the only game with a lopsided number was in favor of LA and they got smacked in game 2. 3) It's not all in those number but also in non-calls. There are several plays where Ray Allen gets flat murdered by fisher with no call. And some plays vice versa. The non-calls and ghost calls have been even as well. If the C's make a comeback and Glen Davis gets an and-1 on that major phantom Bynum foul call, Phil might be the one complaining.

To see Doc go Lou Pinella on the refs after Pierce could "never get going" and basically shrug at Kobe going to the same thing in Game 2 just shows he's positioning himself and thats all in the sport of it, I'm ok with that part.

But Pierce, you may not go back to LA now, don't hide behind "of course I would think my team will win at home" logic. You said it out loud at the fans on purpose, eat the sting of the words now instead of backing out. And Doc, don't slam a player in Derek Fisher that has been locked in the same battle Ray Allen has, and winning 2 of 3 so far.

Fisher was set on every single charge call. Doc is just a whiny idiot.

Doc can really say whatever he wants but this is very uncharacteristic like of him. its either hes lobbying for calls next game or he is really pissed off and is perhaps feeling as if game 3 was huuge

Amusing seeing LA fans complain about this

Phil Jackson

1st round Durant gets way too many calls
2nd round Utah blows no need to even ask for calls
2rd round Nash carries the ball all the time

Finals “We don’t have a smack down mentality,” like the C'z

All to get the refs attention and Fish is well know flopper like Pierce. Ginobli and Varejao take the cake though.
