Ron Artest VS: Paul Pierce

Paul Pierce had a much better game in Game 4 and for the Celtics to win this series, they're going to need Paul Pierce to step up and be the best player on the floor for them. Ron has gotta hold him to another low percentage shooting game and keep Pierce's shot attempts down. On offence, while Ron contributed 8 points, he needs to knock down some outside shots like he did against Phoenix late in the series. He shot almost 40% from three for the majority of the season and he needs to have one of those games where he knocks them down. Ron's been a pretty good offensive player his entire career and he needs to find that. However, the most important key is to limit Pierce.

Keys To The Game For A Lakers Victory

    - Second Chance Points: Obviously, the Celtics got a lot of second chance points in Game 4. Especially off of offensive rebounds and the Lakers rushing after collecting rebounds. We have to limit the Celtics to one and done on the offensive end. Rebounding: Gasol and Odom got to tough up on the boards and if Odom doesn't, I don't care how bad Bynum's knee is. Andrew needs to be in this game because after Phil sat him in Game 4, everything looked exactly like 2008.

    - Bench Play: The Lakers let Glen Davis come off the bench and abuse them. Lamar Odom should be taking a look at himself in the mirror right now. Odom didn't even try to box out, he tried to use his length and Baby Davis pushed him around all over the paint.

    - Kobe Be Great: Well, Kobe had a good game in Game 4 to give the Lakers a chance and he needs to do it again. It's a shame Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol had to curl up into infants in the fourth quarter or else the Lakers would be up 3-1. For the Lakers to have a chance to win Game 5, Kobe's got to have another great game and will the Lakers to a win.

With an extra day between games, I imagine that's the reason why Phil was a complete idiot and sat him.

And credit to my twin sister, Michelle, who made the photo you see at the end of the post. It was a little big, so I had to resize it myself with a tool on the net, but it turned out okay.

Nice GT TL, Drew better man it up. I don't want to make it seem like I'm coming down on him cause I'm not. We've been the better team without a doubt, but we still have traces of 08 in us to a degree. Game 4 could've been had if we just matched energy.

game 5 is where this whole 2-3-2 thing sucks. there should never be a stage where the underdog has more home games than the top seed, and this will be boston's 3rd to the lakers 2nd. doesn't make sense where a team that currently holds homecourt advantage has to win a road game to avoid going down.

i expect a game 3 type of effort from the lakers.

Game 5 is ours. Kobe will have another 30 point game but won't have another 7 TOs.
Pau, will realize he needs to be tougher against Baby and should have no problems grabbing more than 6 boards. Bynum will be key, I am sure ne will get enough treatment with an extra day to play more minutes and help out in the paint.

We still need something from LO and Artest. Guys you need to earn your rings!

Celtics exposed Lakers interior in the 4th. Bynum needs to be there in game 5 or the Cs will have the length, size, and rebounding advantage. I think this series comes down to who improves the most between Rondo's slump and Bynum's knee.

Good points. I completely agree.
I hate this 2-3-2 format. This penalizes the team with home court advantage. The Lakers would be away from home for one week by the time they get back to LA.
I wish the league would go back to the 2-2-1-1-1 format.

Phil is to blame for game 4 loss. It is just not acceptable to loose 1 game, but to loose 2 game. Time to get a new coach and some new bench players.

You can't blame Phil, the players gotta play. That game should have been a a pretty strong victory, the Celtics were sucking it up asking the LAL to put them out of their misery.

The Lakers just watched them take it to them. Big Fat Baby and Shorty Mack are you fn' kidding me? Those guys are a joke, that was embarrasing! Game 5 is a must win. Two at home is not a comfortable thing. If the Lakers think they are going to win both at home that's like playing with fn' fire as the game is tied down the stretch close to 100 and the crowd is begging for free tacos, don't let it come to that.
