Bynum has knee drained again

BOSTON — When Andrew Bynum left TD Garden on Thursday night, he said draining fluid from his swollen right knee was an option he was unlikely to choose, but Bynum was soon convinced that it was worth a try.

Bynum had his knee drained again in the early morning hours Friday — just as he did before the NBA Finals began when his knee didn’t seem to be responding to other sorts of treatment — in hopes of regaining mobility and function. Bynum also had another MRI on the knee later Friday afternoon with Lakers team doctor Steve Lombardo, and the results showed no new damage. The MRI results were sent for Bynum’s personal physician, David Altchek, to review also.

“Nothing new at all,” Lakers spokesman John Black said.

Bynum is officially listed as questionable for Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night, although the Lakers remain optimistic that he’ll be able to play and Bynum has said he will be ready. He will continue with his array of other types of treatment to minimize swelling in his knee, which needs surgery to repair torn cartilage.

Just two more wins 'Drew, that's all we need. Fight and determination, the team should follow Bynum's suit.

im really proud he's toughing through this, god know we need him to neutralize, i dont believe im saying this , big baby lol. its funny during one game Rivers got made at nate b/c he gave it to baby vs bynum. his exact words were "dont give it to him, thats a tough matchup against bynum". but against odom this loser is looking like tim duncan albeit after 1month in a krispy cream factory.

Anyone dissing Andrew needs to seriously check themselves right now. This guy is doing WHATEVER it takes to play.

2 more Drew.. Finish it up, big guy. We can't win this without you.

what are you going on about? its been known since the day he got hurt that he'd require minor surgery. he's simply postponing it so he can still play and not sit out 3,4,5 weeks.

I'm really glad to hear this type of determination from Bynum. The rest of the team should follow suit and play every game like its your last

Drew is doing his best.
He is playing hurt. Most NBA players would shut it down with this type of injury.
We need his length on the inside, specially defensively.

We are proud of you Drew. Give us your best for two more wins and bring home another ring.

bynum is 22 and he's already have a history of "rusting", can't imagine in a couple more years how well his stock will be.

Lakers need to move on with this guy, get someone like Gortat of Orlando. The guy is big, tall, and fast.

The kid is trying. No one can argue that. If anyone wants to question Kobe's leadership, look at Bynum trying to play through injury. Gotta give Bynum credit for trying.

Again, that surgery will treat the injury hopefully relieve some pain. But he will continue to have problems. Its sad thou he showed potential to be an elite center. It sucks the that it seems like only the talented big men in the league continue to have problems. I wonder if its due to some of the training that these kids are going thru in their youth. Something similiar to young kids throwing curve balls.

I need more updates on Bynum's knee.

As a Celtics fan, I don't feel informed enough about how it is, and how it might be affecting his play.

Is it sad? Lonely? Does it like long walks on the beach? I need to know!

Could one of you guys please set up a Twitter account or something, so we can all get real time updates on it?

Thanks.

We feel the same way. Will Rondo continue to be mediocre? Has KG seen his best days? Did Ray allen give up in game 3? Tell PP we are going back to LA. Per laker fans, please start twitters on all of these topics. Oh and will the celtics suck next year without their defensive coach being that you guys all wanted Doc Rivers and Danny fired before you got KG! Thanks in advance for you help.

I agree with the first couple of lines WITHOUT being sarcastic.

It's seems to be a remarkably binary situation -- either the guy can jump and shotblock, or he can't.
