Article on Lamar not willing to step his game up.

Post#1 » by ManuteBol69 » Sat Jun 12, 2010 12:00 am

" 'I’m not going to put it on my shoulders to win or lose the game,” Odom said. “We have to play together as a team.'

He’s always had the talent to be one of the elite players in the game. He just never had the desire to take the job.

'We have to make up for his size and shot-blocking ability and the way he protects the rim,' Odom said of Bynum. 'We have to realize as a team what he gives us and what Lamar gives us. As a team we have to rebound better. We gave [rebounds] up as a team. We have to box out as a team.'

Wait, there’s more.

'It’s always team defense … we have to move the ball as a team … we do everything as a team … as a team we have to figure out what Andrew gave us and what we’re going to miss.'

Odom isn’t wrong. The game is won as a team. But the fact he wasn’t vocalizing an aggressive, ready-for-the-challenge mentality is worrisome. Someone needs to make something happen inside. Someone has to stop Glen Davis(notes) from pouring in 18 points. Someone has to play bigger than usual. "

Once again Lamar goes m.i.a. Lamar alone has been frustrating me for a while. It might just be a matchup issue that Lamar is not playing well but it seems again and again he lacks focus and responsibility for what he does on the court. His perception of teamwork is quite baffling

What do you guys think?

LO The Kandy Man crashed out inconsistent kandy junkie. Him and Ron Artest really lack that killer instinct. L.A has got to miss Trevor Ariza rite now with the way Artest just jacks up threes.

ron's doing a great job on the D end. he's a bit scattered on offense and doesn't look like he's got a firm grasp of the triangle yet. but no way does ariza keep pierce in check like ron has.

hes just trying to look for an excuse or hes just really that stupid......you're effing part of the team dumbass, like tommy said; remove your tampon and start playing ball. your team needs you to be aggressive and you're getting outplayed by freaking glen davis whos not even getting half of what you make.

Well clearly playing with Kobe and Fish for all these years havent helped Lamar develop a winning frame of mind.

Lamar will never get it. Nobody really expects him to be a star and win the game, we just expect a consistent effort and for you not to get outhustled by an overweight guy in the fricking NBA Finals!

Ya he didnt have a problem shopping his sorry arse around when nobody wanted to sign him and Buss paid him more than what he deserved and now he's not going to put it on my shoulders to win or lose the game?? GTFO here, your big arse wife could D up Fat Baby better than you did Lamar. Pull the Cotex out and stepup and do what your getting paid to do dirtbag its the finals man and you have a chance to make history.

He's consistently inconsistent, he should be ashamed that an obese Glen Davis owned him on the boards in game 4

I honestly am starting to think the Lakers should have kept Ariza, he would never have choked in the playoffs

LO needs to step up

The joke is that he is only playing up to the value of his contract.

I was hoping to get 2009 LO back not 4.5 mil $ paycut LO.

Bynum & LO need to split time. We have to have Kobe fresh in the 4th. He cant do magic w/o a 5 min rest in the 2nd half.
Lakers are 22-3 in OT last 6 seasons:Kobe best OT closer!

Odom has been playing with this passive mentality for years. I doubt it's going to change. He knows the media and the fans have been bashing him, but yet he does nothing to fix that. You think Bryant would just sit idly by if he's being bashed?
