Yes, right behind the Refs and Gasol he clearly was the important Laker on the court.

Artest > LeBron

As I stated in the last Artest thread:
KB89 wrote:I've learned to just accept Artest for what he is. Offensively, he's been atrocious for us for the most part, but we did not bring him in for offense. I think Artest is the type of player that he needs to know that he is the man, or maybe a 2nd option, to really thrive on offense. A lot of his offensive game seems to be driven by confidence, and I don't think he has that at this point. Maybe next year he will better adapt to his new role, but we really don't need him to do much. All we need is for him to do a fairly good job at knocking down his wide open shots he sees, and for him to be able to step up on the nights where Kobe or Pau go cold. However, I still view Artest as a very important contributor to this team, because his defense has been something we were lacking. As shown last night, if our team plays up to it's capabilities defensively, we are damned hard to stop. And Artest is a very crucial piece to this strategy.

And boy did he show up tonight when we had a cold Kobe and Gasol (though he eventually heated up). I think the criticism Artest has faced is unfair though. We brought him in to be a defensive presence, and he has done that. I know this is an offensive driven league now, but Artest's defense cannot be overlooked, and he continually proved it throughout these Playoffs. Props to Artest, because without him I do not think we beat the Celtics this series.

From the day he was singed to the end of the season and up to game 5 some of you guys doubted Artest and keep whinning about "Why we didnt resing Ariza" Or "Ariza was a better player" B.S or he will cause problems and he will be a distraction.

He promised Kobe a title in Boston when we lost in 08 and he promised to help him win one, he came through with his promise and it showed in this game.

Props on Ron and SHAME on you for doubting him.

If anyone but Ron is on Pierce, we lose.

He had a MONSTER game 7, and without his grit this game we lose the championship.

He wanted it more than anyone on EITHER team.

I'm 100% guilty TM, what a game, MVP of the game, just incredible. I think Paula beat him one time the whole game, just an incredible performance. No way we are in this game without him. Ron carried us for 3 quarters, the Big Spainard closed it out.

Props to Ron's psychiatrist.
