Draft pick
Should the Lakers look to buy a #1 pick this year. They have not had one in 2 out of 3 drafts now and they sold last years to the Knicks. Would something in the 18-22 range be worth it.

Re: Draft pick
It's a really deep draft this year.

Yes, it would definitely be worth it. We need a legitimate future prospect sitting on the bench, not scrubs like Morrison, Mbenga, Powell, etc.

Re: Draft pick
I would love to see us buying a first round pick, but with our salary level and the need for reinforcement in some key positions, I don't see us having the money to do it.

Re: Draft pick
I hope that we trade for an early 2nd rounder this year because the draft is pretty deep. By moving up in the 2nd round we don't have to sign the player to a guaranteed deal. I like the guard prospects in this draft and I hope we get one to take over for Fisher when he retires.

One good pic would help next season and is needed to restart rebuilding the end of the bench.

Portland just paid 1 mill to move up about 10 picks in the second round. I don't see Buss giving up a mill that easily.

Re: Draft pick
What if the Lakers held a fundraiser to get to $3 million for the first round pick?

Re: Draft pick
What about a 2nd rounder this year and a 2nd rounder next year to move up in the draft. I think we have a couple of 2nd round picks next year from the deals we made last year on draft day. This draft is really deep and we should look to move up. Remember last year Blair fell all the way to the Spurs in the 2nd round when he was thought to be a 1st rounder possibly lottery.

I <3 Blair
I like the idea, that way we can pick a slew of Guards/Forwards and see who fits best.

Re: Draft pick
We don't need a 1st if chad Ford is correct. We can get Willie Warren at 43 and should acquire another 2d to pick up Stanley Robinson. That would add 2 superior ahtletes and and young to the bench. A 1st would be a waste this year. Need it next season.
Warren and Robinson give us the big PG and defensive stopper that is needed for future years at inexpensive salaries. 2d is a traget-rcih envirnoment.
Looking at Championship teams, drafting is less importnat that trading or signing FAs for missing parts.

Re: Draft pick
Better to give that extra 3 mil to get our coach back
Its would be stupid to spend 115 mil on a roster and not spend an extra few mil so ALL the player dont have to learn a new system

Re: Draft pick
You guys do realize that the Lakers have no money? We probably won't be able to use our MLE this year because of it.
So let's spend 3 M to buy a crappy 1st round pick so we can pay the guy 1 M - 1.5 M a year to sit on the bench. By the way, that picks salary really costs 2 M to 3 M a year due to the luxury tax. Meanwhile, lets nickel & dime our GOAT coach...
The draft should be used to put bodies in the 12th & 13th slot of this team. 2nd rounders will do.
