What do we need to three-peat?

As everyone knows there are many top level free agents out there and it looks like more than one will end up on a team together and most likely in the east.
So with that being said.. what up-grades to our team do we need to make?
Should we trade one of our bigs to get a PG or a couple of players to help our bench?
for example Odom's 10.8 ppg 9.8 rpg and 3.3 apg and 7.5 mil a yr. for maybe Beasley's 14.8 ppg 6.4 rpg ,4.6 mil a yr and J. Jones 4.1 ppg, 1.3 rpg and 4.3 mil a yr. I used this as a example because I remember reading that the Heat was willing to trade Beasley for Dooling just to ship him out.
What about Bynum for Devin Harris and fillers to help our bench? What do you guys think? :dontknow:

You know I like many of off-season moves that have been mentioned. But I think we need to proceed with a little bit of caution. Have you ever heard of the phrase, "If it ain't broke don't fix it"? This LA Lakers team has played in three straight NBA Finals.

IMHO, we shouldn't mess too much with the winning formula that this Lakers team has developed the past few years. I mean - if we start making knee-jerk reactions and wholesale changes than we might risk messing with team the chemistry.

We should definitely address our issues at PG and getting another BIG.

Things to do to 3-peat:

1) Sign Kobe to an extension so he is not in the 2010 FA discussion...CHECK
2) Sign Pau to an extension to ensure Kobe/Pau core remains...CHECK
3) Sign Phil back...check, if health permits...if not, then we need to make the right coaching choice
4) Sign/Resign some free agents that aren't all that important but are a nice topic for discussion for most of the year (better or worse)
5) Assign a special task force to ensuring Bynum remains healthy
6) Lather, Rinse, 3-peat.

Let me try to put an end to the trade Bynum Stuff. Sound Big men are extremly hard to come by in this league. the only advantage that Lakers have over the other teams in the league is the ability to match up with each others team.If we meet a Run and gun team we unleash odom, if we meet a half court team we unleash bynum. trading bynum for anyone else including bosh will take this advantage away from us. pau gasol is a better PF than he is a C. Am happy he decided against the surgery and became a presence in the playoffs even with limited minutes. remember one game against the celtics he played 36 minutes, we need all this so Perkins could not eat us down lo all day. BYNUM STAYS AND WE HOPE FOR AN INJURY FREE SEASON

We need to sign DFish! First and foremost
If not Phil how about Clemons. and keep the triangle
Keep Shannon adios Farmar.
Find good Point guard to start who can drive and hit threes.
What I go back and forth on is Bynum for Bosh
Bosh is in his prime. This good for Kobe as he declines a bit scoring will be needed.
However he is 6'10 and Slim.
In the end .........................Yes on Bosh just throw in Calderon

Now to answer this post.
1) praying for an injury free season and playoff
2)we need a starting pointg guard who can hit threes.
3) we need a three point specialist, its hard to win a game without a three point specialist. mostly whe we strugled with phoenix and y san antonio lost to the. it was suppose to b Ron artest, but we all know how that turned out.
4) The Bench needs to reconstruct their own identity. Gone were the days where the bench had their own identity. BENCH MOB(typically because of the energy of trevor ariza). they played an uptempo style whilst the startest where a half court team. What am saying is that we need an energy guy that can make cuts, finish strong, get the crowd involved coming of the bench , that will enable them to play at an uptempo style at the same time playing good team defense.

If we have thiss then we will b talking about 4 peat and KOBE as the G.L.O.A.T as well as G.O.A.T.

Convince Kobe to rest in the summer. This is one of the biggest key IMO

Devin Harris is a good player, but he's an awful fit for the Lakers. It's important to get players that can fit within the system.

Honestly right now I think all we truly need is some solid bench guys that provide enough consistent minutes to keep our starters fresh through the season and give good stretches in the playoffs. I just want a consistent bench. TMac is an interesting option, he could bring a ton to the table and it would make the season interesting. Solid role playes that can defend decent and shoot like Reddick and Korver would be nice. We don't truly need a big name like Heinrich or anything or moving Bynum. BUT Bynum for Bosh and a second player would be nice to fill out, especially if it was Jack. Bosh would help take load of Kobe and help minute rotations and bring hunger.

we cant sign blake (unless its for the vets' min) and use a MLE wing

we're going to using part or all of our MLE to land blake

Lakers offseason article

With the final game of the 2010 NBA Finals having come to an end, the Lakers organization has been preparing to make several offseason changes in addition to planning the upcoming championship parade on Monday, June 21, 2010.

First, the Lakers are making it their high priority to re-sign head coach Phil Jackson to coach the Lakers for the 2010-2011 NBA season. Sources indicate that Phil Jackson, after having won his 11th career championship as a head coach, would like to return next year and attempt to coach a team to an unprecedented fourth three-peat.

Contrary to media reports, Phil Jackson's health, not money, will be the main factor determining whether or not he will return next year. The Lakers organization has already engaged in informal contract negotiations with Coach Jackson, and both sides seem willing to compromise on an appropriate salary.

Second, the Lakers organization have also expressed a strong interest in retaining the services of unrestricted free agent point guard Derek Fisher. Derek Fisher is credited for making some timely three-pointers in this past season's playoff run, including the fourth quarter shot in Game Seven of the NBA Finals which tied the game at 64-64. The Celtics would never gain the lead again.

Fisher's veteran presence and locker room leadership are seen as a key component of maintaining the Lakers' success heading into next season. The Lakers are exploring either signing Fisher to a $2 million, one-year contract or a two-year deal at the veteran's minimum of $1.2 million per year.

Speaking of guards, the Lakers are waiting to see how the contract situations of backup guards Jordan Farmar and Shannon Brown play out in the offseason. Shannon Brown has a $2.2 million player option for the 2010-2011 season while Jordan Farmar will likely be extended the $2.8 million qualifying offer.

Should Shannon Brown opt out of his current contract and sign with another team, or should Jordan Farmar leave L.A. for a higher salary that the Lakers will certainly not match, then the Lakers will explore signing unrestricted free agent guards Luke Ridnour or Raymond Felton.

In addition to guard depth, the Lakers are also considering bolstering the wing depth of the bench unit. The Lakers will not maintain small forward Adam Morrison, and do not see Slovenian guard Sasha Vujacic as an important role player once his contract ends in 2011. The Lakers will inquire about the availability of free agent shooters Kyle Korver or Mike Miller.

The Lakers have also offered a guaranteed one-year deal to 2009 preseason attendee Thomas Kelati, whose international play for the Spanish team Valencia BC has drawn the interest of multiple suitors. The Lakers see Thomas Kelati as an athletic swingman with shooting capability similar to former Laker Trevor Ariza. However, Thomas Kelati is expected to remain in Europe for the next year.

Lastly, despite the positive relationships of bench players DJ Mbenga and Josh Powell with the core of the team, the Lakers are not expected to re-sign either free agent for the next NBA season.

The Lakers are looking at a variety of options to bolster the bench with some experienced big men, and will gauge the interest of veterans Kurt Thomas and Joe Smith, both of whom are contemplating retirement. The Lakers will attempt to persuade these veterans to accept the veteran's minimum and chase a ring with the defending champions.

I agree only trade Bynum for Bosh if it include Calderon. Other wise we would have to max out Bosh and have no money left for a pg.

We can always keep Bynum and pick up a decent PG.
