How much is Shannon Brown worth??
Throughout these finals I saw glimpses of greatness.
Where do you guys see Shannon in the next 3-4 years? All-Star, Starter, Sixth Man, Role Player, Other??

Shanwow is very tricky he defends PGs very well but his PG skills aint that great, I do think he got the short end of the stick this year and he could have played more just for his D but yeah he is worth what his contract is paying him.

Did you really just use the word "all-star" and "Shannon Brown" in the same sentence?

I personally want his ass gone. Yes he has his flashy moments and all but the guy tries to be someone he is not. Instead of playing off the ball and slashing to the basket he tries to take the game over and play one on one only to throw a brick up at the rim.

If he opts out the Lakers will "Ariza him".

He'll be replaced by someone cheaper and better (Duhon and Crittenton).

If he opts in the Lakers will use him as the ninth and last man off the bench (behind Mike Miller and Chris Duhon).

He's a role player. He should make 1-2 million a year. His defense is really good when he is focused but not as consistent as say a Tony Allen, although he is a much better shooter than Tony Allen, but that's not saying very much, is it?

His best role is the role he plays with us as a backup SG on a team that has other ball handlers that enable him to play defensive PG without being a liabilty on the offensive side (at PG).

He seems to lack focus and consistency. He should be using his jaw dropping athletic skills on the defensive side in a more aggressive and impactful way.

He is a slighlty undersized SG who is quick enough to guard PGs and big enough to guard 90 percent of the leagues SGs. The more he plays solid, impactful, Tony Allen-like defense, and the more he knocks down catch and shoot opportunities, the more valuable he becomes.

Unfortunately, Shannon Brown is like most ball players in that their offense and dunking showcases ignite their defense. Which is fine, except for nights when there are no dunks and your jumper ain't fallin.

I disagree, his game is a more all around game, his Defense is solid, his offense is blooming, he needs to use his jumping more and take to the rim, but the excitement he brings to games humiliates and demoralizes teams when he does this.

Personally I don't think he played enough minutes this year. Would love to have him back, he has what we don't have, pure atheltisism that is unleashed at times on an opponent.

this is not a good situation. lets say brown bolts. farmar leaves town. fisher free agency. with all 3 (worst case scenario) gone, we have ZERO tri experience at the point. JAX does not like going into things without experienced personnel. Farmar was interviewed, and he said he was "excited" about searching external possibilities apart from the LAKERS. ship out brown and with an old fish, that does not bode well for the 1spot.

Now if we re-sign fish for example, WE NEED someone to back him up.

i'll bet that not a whole lot of takers are going to pay him high, and we'll resign him on a good cheap rate. thats the hope.

I like to see him back. He has a few things on his side. He is young and the Lakers without any draft picks the last 3 years need some youth on the bench. He can dunk with the best. With his leaping skills, that should lead to some defense. Shooting is getting better. He is hitting the 3 more. Weople want to bring in some undrafted rookie or a low second round pick to replace him. That might work, but Brown already has 2 years in the triangle and knows his roll. He got some good minutes when it counted.

we have his early bird rights, so we wont have to use any exceptions on him. that said, he's probably going to opt out anyway, just so he can have a grandfather contract going into the new CBA.

if this was halfway through the regular season, he was worth 9M/3yr. but since that ray allen pasting he was handed in game 2, his stock has cooled down a bit, with sasha earning PT over him

he might just opt out so he can add more years to his deal, i doubt hes going to ask for significantly more money

lakers should definately bring him back
shannon brown is an invaluable asset to the lakers, although not the best decision maker theres been moments in the playoffs where he single handedly turn the momentum in favor of LA through doing crazy dunks to get the crowd off their feet.
i think his ability to bring down the house with his dunks really helps get the home crowd into it.

i'll be happy if he doesn't opt out. if he does, he's gone. he's not worth more than what he'd get paid under his current deal.

He's solid and has all of the physical tools to get things done. He would be the ultimate tri pg for us. The only thing he lacks is bball IQ... he doesn't have a good sense of what he should be doing when defending on the perimeter and needs to be more dynamic on offense... leaving Ray Allen open in game 2 was just embarrassing to watch...

@ ALL HAIL
How are we supposed to get BOTH Miller and Duhon here? both of them are going to command more than the LLE/Vet. Min... unless we setup a S&T with the Knicks for Duhon involving either Farmar or Brown.... and just sign Miller using MLE... but then high salary and added lux. tax might come into play since we will have a few redundant players earning some serious coin... Luke Walton, Sasha come to mind..... tough call for management to make..

he got chuck happy for my taste, and for those praising his D, he was horrible guarding Allen, I dont why he kept leaving his eye of him time and time again. He wants to get paid and on a longer deal, hope he gets it but not here.....his shooting is to inconsistent to make for any of those highlight dunks, I rather take substance over flash, like farmar their strength is getting to the paint but both rather iso and shoot deep contested jumpers.

Lakers have said they are not using the MLE, so getting someone without a sign and trade is going to be impossible, let's hope Mitch has some magic up his sleave, if we lose Farmer, Brown, Fisher, we could be in for a long year.

He's worth nothing to me. Non factor pretty much. Only game he showed up in was a game 6 20 point raping. Not needed. His slam dunk contest performance just shows how much he gets owned by pressure.

I prefer sasha over him.

The best he could get is $12 to $15 million over 5 years... Realistically, he could get $7 to $9 million over 3 years from the right team... Obviously, PJ soured on him in the playoffs as his minutes were inconsistent but he is an athletic freak... I though he may be the answer during the season but he has shortcomings... If he opts out he will be treated like Ariza... The Lakers let him shine and hopefully he stays... He says he will opt out but may reconsider... une 30 will answer our questions...

i hope he does end up staying - his the type of player that brings that spark off the bench. When brown and farmer are on the court together they have moments where they play well and give the bench the production we need.

but in saying that - both of them are to inconsistent to warrent a longer deal or more money. I would like to see farmer go and for fish and brown to stay and we use what we have to find a pure PG to come off the bench to back-up fish... i just dont see fish leaving at all... his already said that he wants to come back for another season...
