The article also says that LeBron has a "strong interest" in the triangle offense.
Looks like B Shaw has some suitors as well.

He's not going anywhere until the Phil situation is resolved.

If Shaw gets the Cavaliers job, it would end any chance of Shaq signing with the Lakers because Shaw and Shaq are very close and it's Shaq who recommended that the Cavs interview him.

Shaq will definitely stay in Cleveland if Shaw is hired.

Cavs backup plan if Scott is a no-go.

it would be good to see lebron in a triangle.

but not at the cavs, i wouldn't mind seeing both lebron and shaq at the clips (they don't have a coach yet do they??)

either way, would shaw even be interested knowing that hes in the hot seat should phil retire this year or next? would he want to be the cavs HC, when phil decides to retire the year after, after leading the lakers to a three-peat

once again, i'll throw in a small vote for jim cleamons, that is if jax leaves town.

Did Kobe respect Brian Shaw enough as a player to be his coach - I wouldn't mind seeing Rambis come in, we obviously need someone who fully understands the triangle (Kobe for Coach?)

fairly sure kobe respects shaw, not so rambis

Nice! Kobe for player/coach would help with our cap space issues too, as he would get the bulk of his contract as a coach...didn't Phil make 12 mil?

Yeah, that's ridiculous. If Shaw were to coach, he'd probably make about 3-5 so we'd have 7-9 mill to spend on another player

Or we spend an extra 2 mill and have Phil come back at 14 a season and then we have 2 mill less for players. I think Buss wants to keep the total payroll under 110 mil (with assistants and what not)

I love B Shaw but I don't think he is quit ready to take on a job like the Lakers or Cavs (specially if LeBron comes back)
I think it would be best for him to get head coaching experience in a place where there will be less pressure and less expectations.
The Lakers have won 2 titles in a row, and the ex[ectation nest year will be nothing short of another title. I just don't see the Lakers hiring him as head coach at this point.

Why isn't Shaw ready, what has Shaw done to make you feel that?

He has not been in a situation where he has had to make a decision yet.
I think he has all the tools to be a great head coach, but has not had an opportunity to refine those skills.
You can argue that he can learn on the fly.
Well the Lakers are a team that is expected to win every year. I'm not sure they would want to hire B Shaw right now. Maybe a few years from now, where he has had an opportunity to coach somewhere else, make some decisions, really develop his style of coaching etc...

Don't get me wrong..I love BShaw.
I just don't think he is ready to coach the Lakers.

i dont think making kobe think about rotations, when and how to use timeouts and which plays to run because they were successful earlier in the game (and keeping tallies) is going to maximise kobe's effectiveness.

not to mention team scouting, player training and everything else thats involved with the coaching staff.

try to find luke walton's exit interview to see how much work the coaching staff do. and thats just scratching the surface

Bill Russell did and they won a championship that year....against us Lakers of all teams.

Watch him on the sidelines, he pretty much coaches already. But your right rotations, and scouting and all the little things someone of more experience should handle i.e Shaw

you know its takes 3 coaches to scout all 29 opponents right?

you know all the laker assistants keep track of every play that works and doesn't work on the sidelines of every game right? not just 1.

you know that the staff have to watch thousands of hours of tape, come up with succinct gameplans and explain it all to the players right?

kobe can call plays. but hes nowhere near a coach, of which you need professional training, and then you need experience.

Wow... I was being very light heart-ed about this whole post, sort of having fun with the Kobe for coach idea. But to answer your questions yes. I know this, my vote since he was fired has always been B-Scott for our replacement.
