as per wiretap:
If the Lakers are unable to retain Shannon Brown and Derek Fisher, they are interested in signing a point guard such as Steve Blake, Luke Ridnour or Earl Watson.
i like luke ridnour

All three are younger than Fisher. One is 29, another is 30 and another is 31. Just depends on what money they want and who is the coach.

they all seem the same, but i would have to go with either steve blake or luke ridnour
but i dont know much about each one so i cant tell who is better, although, reading the article i was disappointed that mike miller was not in the list

im pretty sure this shows just the point guards they are targetting, not everything they plan to do in free agency.
I personally dont know much about them, but i would probably take a steve blake?

hopefully, but i doubt that lakers would be able to sign two players with the MLE
many people are talking about signing two players out of Bell/Blake/Miller/etc, but i doubt that this would happen since i think that each one of the players would probably want most of the MLE at least

Blake is better than Farmar I think, and he fits perfectly on the triangle offense (I suppose If Phil Jackson leaves the next coach will keep the same system...)Nice shooter and a big upgrade over the current Fisher.
From my point of view the best point guard would be Kirk Hinrich, sincer we are not getting him a combination of both Bell and Blake to replace Farmar and Brown seems better than both of that guys,if we can bring Brad Miller or even Shaq with the minimun salary it would be a great free agency period.

Blake is the best of those three.

heres the problem, derek fisher. the scenario was supposed to be . . . 2 triangle experienced guys step up, and eventually mid-season phase out derek fisher. fish goes, then those 2 tri experienced guys step in as starter and backup.
however . . . bring in BRAND NEW GUYS, and fish starts and with his experience in the phil jackson system, never relinquishes it and gets big minutes. wears down at end of year. and when we face westbrook, nash, williams, etc . . . this time, we get blasted. new guys usually get gun-shy, and we already know blake, ridnour, watson etc... cannot guard the premiere point guards we will be facing in the playoffs, and they will get exposed and isolated. when they dont have confidence in the system, nor confidence from their new teammates, they will clank shots when isolated up top.
our system is ball movement and spot up when kobe drives or dishes. or at least thats what kobe has made it become with his on and off jacking of shots. i have no confidence in the unknown product of blake, ridnour and watson to hit the 3s when needed. at least with farmar he would hit once in a while and there was a confidence based on the years of playing together, they proved it in the finals by hitting in that series when needed. this is scary for us, because weve been looking for a solid point for a while to finally take over for fish. it looks like however, fish will be up top for a while longer than expected. deservedly so, but cmon, everyone loses to father time.

Blake > Ridnour > Watson.
I'd take the first two over Farmar.

Come on guys, you know your NBA.
Fisher is going to play for the Lakers next season
1. Lakers wants him
2. He wants to play for the Lakers
3. Kobe wants him
4. No other team is trying to get him(and whant to pay him).
Farmar and Brown are gone.
If we get Fisher and Blake/Ridnour i will be happy.
Then some vetran like Bell and were are in great shape.

Troublesome scenario.....
Miami only gets 1 max to play with Wade and now has 12 mil space to fill out PG and C. They might offer Blake 3 mil or so and he is from Miami.
Milw is expecting to re-sign Ridnour to be Jennings backup and can offer more due to birds, and they did trade Bell away who was their insurance PG.
So it is very possible that neither comes to LA, leaving the Lakers with Watson as the option... yikes.
Fisher/Watson/Critt. Not pretty. Better get Livingston out for a looksie asap.

I have been saying whatever move the Lakers make it will NOT be sexy. It will be a solid one. So don't expect THE guy to fall in to Mitch's lap.
Luke Ridnour back in the Sonic days was killer him, Ray Ray and Lewis Whoo them boys used to drop 3's all night. I once saw a game where Sonics played the Suns during the height of the run and gun Dantoni days and at half time the score was something like 69 to 73

. Sonics were about 40% from 3point land. But i don't remember Ridnour being able to stop Nash driving to hoop putting up MONEY floaters.

These are 'realistic' targets and that's why.
Most likely way too many guys are going to get overpaid bigtime so there isn't going to be much left to choose from for us. Maybe we get lucky with some vets coming here because they want to win, but in the end its usually always about the money...

I'm not real sure how much of an upgrade any of these guys are over Farmar. Ridnour and Blake are better shooters, but are just as bad or worse defensively. Can't see any good out of bringing Watson in. I guess these are the type of options you're stuck with when you're so far over the cap.
