With Phil back on board, i got to thinking besides money, does anyone think that any free agents who are aware that they have a chance to not only play for a contender / champion but this WILL be the last chance any player has to play under Coach Phil Jackson, the greatest NBA coach ever. :D

Yes players want to play for a champion but this is also PJ's last stand as he put it.

Do you think that factors into players decisions on where they not only want to play but NEED to considering Phil will retire?

Who knows how much of a hit our team will take once he does leave and we start a Post-Jackson era.

I understand what youre saying. This free agency has made me come to terms with players in the NBA. There are those that play for the love of the game. Kobe, A.I.,Garnett, etc. Then there are those that fake the funk LeBron, etc. Lastly there are those that play for money and its better than working a 9 to 5. Thats a lot of them! That being said nothing is wrong with any of that. What youre speaking of is the NBA of the past. I think players like Kid, Nash, Kobe, Shaq are some of the last of an era we wont see again for a long time. Players who cared about legacy and championships. Now its all gone "hollywood" and "Pay me!"

"Messenger Boy: The Thessalyian, he's the biggest man I've ever seen, I wouldn't want to fight him. Achilles: And that is why your name shall never be remembered."

It comes with every generation that players are selfish and ball hogs, only care for themselves (isn't this the biggest knock on Kobe?)

Before magic and bird the league was in a downward spiral, then Jordan came along. They thought it'd be over, but Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, AI, Garnett had their run. Lebron, Wade, and Carmelo will have their time in the sun. No different.

Ya you're right. I agree with what you're saying. The class of players willing to take perhaps less money for a chance to play for someone of Phil's coaching status is very very small. Its all about pay me, where can i get the most $$$. Which is fine actually cant fault them for trying to maximize their funds for them and their family.

I just wondered if any free agent (prob over 27) would take into consideration that Phil will never coach again. In the mortal words of the other MJ ..."This is it."

I understand what youre saying but the fact that NBA officials are resembling the WWE refs, Leauge owners screaming broke but paying Goodnen and Gaye tens of Millions on top of that not one significant move beside Pierce in the FA makes todays NBA seem like everyone's out for money. I mean I dont blame players like Brown and Farmar. But the marquee players are seem to be sacrificing championships and legacy for cash in hand now. The culture of the NBA has changed. Honestly I blame the executives the owners and Stern for this change.

Word over 27 cos honestly. Did these dudes ever see Phil Coach back in the day. Are you going to tell me that if you asked someone like Demarcus Cousins name more than 3 players from a Jordan Championship team that he could. "Hey Cousins who is Vlade Divac and why is Chris Webber significant to your current team?" Players today are to distracted they only know their game their time. Who was the player that was quoted saying he didn't think Jordan was that big of deal.

Imagine a young Magic saying something like that about a past NBA great, don't think that would have happened because Magic was a fan and a student of the game first.

Thats why Kobe's arrogance gets a pass. Hes a hardcore student / fan of the GAME.

If Kobe wasnt im sure he'd be and outcast like Barry Bonds....just a constant cancer to your team. The talent might still be there but the dislike from the fans as well as the haters would be unfathomable.

Thats why Lebron is seeing a growing number of haters. We all know hes got game but when hes doing elaborate dance moves / pre game antics during a game it just puts most true NBA fans off. :-?

I knew what you meant. I think guys like Kevin Durant though have the right idea. Helps that he's playing for brand new team / city. Until he gets $$$ hungry from what ive seen so far this guys lets his hustle / game speak for itself.

I dont see KD doing elaborate pre-game rituals like taking fake pictures of his teammates lol
