Lakers are offering 1 year 2.5 according to realgm

Fish worth that much? Fish has to know he's about done, He needs to come down closer to the 2.5.

Would you pay that much for Fish ?

That is way too much money, that puts us in the $91 Million payroll range yet again while we still have to resign Mbenga and Shannon to fill up the roster spots.

With that said, if we gave Blake $4 Mil per year, fisher will not want to make less than him especially if Fish will be the starting guard and Fish will be the one in the clutch moments taking the big shots.

edited title and added link.

this is going to come down to other teams simply not offering fisher as much as he's asking for (if he really is).

the market will show fisher that the lakers offer is not low enough that he'd leave.

Why edit to something I already said>

I think it's a no brainer some team will pay Fish two years 10 mill. But he needs to go out and look to find out.

i added that the lakers made an offer to the title. without that, it comes off as just a redundant thread about fisher wanting 2yrs 10 mil.

and consider this your last warning from me about your disruptive use of smileys. you've been warned plenty of times from me and others, so its not for a lack of informing you about it.

Keeping Fisher is essential to chasing the 3peat in my mind. He is the glue that keeps our team together when we are in dier need. He deserves way more than 1 year 2.5 million are you kidding me lakers!? D Fish DESERVES no less than 3.5 or 4 million a year for 2 years to me.

Would he take 2 million over 3 years?

I think LA is better off offering him less money over more years than more over less.

Grant it, he doesn't have much time left, but for 2 million - he can be a good veteran role player/leader

Why can't Kobe and Pau pitch in and buy a 2 million dollar home for Fish this season? A million a piece is chump change to them.

Why didn't the Lakers lock up Fish first?

PG wise Blake was the biggest FA available, and a nice fit, but another would have been fine...Felton, Livingston, Ridnoir. The hurry was to sign him b4 anyone else, I'm guessing.

4 years is kinda obnoxious for a 30 year old journeyman. It's not horrible, but it's not great either. I'd pay Fish 2 years 10M before I'd pay Blake 4 years 16M, without hesitation. Fish should be more like a 3-4, but Fish stays healthy, he's in great shape and is never injured, and is our vocal leader, and does a lot of off the court stuff. 2 years 5M per isn't the end of the world vs. having Blake as our full time starter.

Fish had trouble with Westbrook, but played fantastic the rest of the playoffs. Check out this gauntlet...Westbrook, D Williams, Nashty, Rondo.

Did letting Farmar test the FA market make lead to Mitch hurrying to sign Blake sothat the LAL weren't stuck without a pg?

Fish should have been the first signing after the playoffs ended.

How about the Lakers ask Fish to take the paycut and he becomes our player coach next year and we can make it up to him then?

I've never felt Fish would leave, but this is really poor cap management. For a team looking to cut costs, you start by not giving Steve Blake that much money and completely put FIsh in a different ball park a week later. I'm sure Blake could have been had in the 3m area. With Fish's minutes and handling duties being limited, I'm sure it's easy to talk him down a little... but 2.5?

This just draws the process out. And it makes Buss look like a complete hypocrite. He says when we win, he'll keep the team together. Well we have his bird rights, so at least match Blake's salary.

I guess it's about paying somebody what they're worth.

A couple of key shots and Game 3 in the Finals aside, he was the worst starting PG in the league last year. His value is almost all intangible at this point. And he's going to be another year older.

At any rate, I'm sure this is all just negotiating at this point. Remember the situation with LO got pretty cagey last summer, and that was resolved. I'm sure this will, too.

And if it doesn't, oh well. We're out a 35-year-old PG.

Would it be against the rules for a player to pay another player to play on his team?
