How will they fill out the roster?

Post#1 » by Penberthy » Thu Jul 8, 2010 3:14 pm

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the Lebron thread or the Wade+Bosh thread, so I started my own. Mods feel free to hack/merge this if so inclined.

I am curious as to how you guys think MIA will fill out the squad if they do indeed land lebron in addition to wade and bosh. More specifically, how much money will they have to spend and what type of players will the be able to get with that money.

For example, would they even be able to offer a Mike Miller type 6 or 7 mil per? Or will the roster have to be filled strictly with min players?

Right now its looking like:

PG-Chalmers
SG-Wade
SF-Bron
PF-Beasley
C-Bosh

will they be able to upgrade from chalmers or beasley at all? I know bosh hates playing C, I dont think he would be too happy having to play it all year especially with dwight in the same division.

I genuinely don't understand the intricacies of how the salary cap would affect MIA's ability to sign other free agents after lebron. If someone could fill me in, that would be much appreciated.

Their bench is going to be one of the weakest in league history if this rings true. If one of the three stars gets hurt, they're in trouble. I hope this isn't true, because it would be a huge cop-out. I'd like to see LBJ go to Chicago, personally. The only way the MIA deal makes sense is if all three players take pay cuts, and I can't see that happening.

Wade- "Me and Bosh wouldn't taking paycuts to form a stonger team to win" He said on ESPN.

Mike Penberthy?

When they won in '06 they had a bad bench.

well, they can't sign Mike Miller but book it Raja Bell will be headed there. I think their biggest issue will be at the center position. Otherwise, who needs a bench when you have LeWash? They're only playing 6-7 men deep in the playoffs anyway. Can't wait for the matchup.

3 star players did not work for the Lakers in 2000, so there is some chance that this will not work. They still have to play 82 and the playoffs to get to the finals. As we know here in LA. It is so hard to do.

the 1999-2000 lakers team had two stars, g. rice was not a star on the level of any of LeWash.

anyway, in the end i completely agree that nothing is given to you and talent alone doesn't win championships. regardless, I will buy league pass just so i can watch every miami game, this type of team doesn't come along very often.

^yeah just saw on the wiretap they offered him a decent deal. not sure where they're getting the money for it if in fact lebron is going to Miami, but I'm no Cap expert. Wonder if this means Lebron actually isn't going to Miami?? I dunno what the hell is going on...lol.

I think it is possible if Bosh is traded to Miami.

The Miller offer doesn't add up.

As of now, assuming Haslem and Anthony renounced, and Beasley traded for no $ return:

16.32 wade
16.32 bosh
.85 chalmers
1.86 (jones owed)
Plus 9 roster holds at .47 = 39.58

16.32 lebrand
- 1 hold = 55.43

Cap is 58.04

Most avail to Miller is 2.61

UNLESS they are taking less than the max (16.32)

I remember reading somewhere that if all 3 do indeed sign with the heat, they'll each be taking around $15mill. So cut roughly 1.5 X3 = 4.5 mill. Add this on to 2.61 that is available, and mike miller will be able to sign with the heat. Rest are going to have to be minimum players. It should be interesting to see the heat roster when it is all said and done if they do indeed sign lebron

Dleauge call ups and old forgotten Free Agent NBA Players. Where is Penny these days? Too bad Allan Huston is in the Knicks Org. ZO?!

Riley could find some Gems anyone know how much to pick up an Undrafted player. I think there were quite a few centers avail Zoubek is 7'1 and totaly denfensive minded. Sweetney is available!
