Derek Fisher received an offer of the veteran's minimum from the Heat over the weekend, but he is likely to re-sign with the Lakers.
Fisher reportedly received a $2.5 million offer for next season from the Lakers. He has been seeking a two-year contract with a starting salary closer to the $5 million he made last season.

Let off it man, your constant hate of everything LA outside the name "Lakers" gets really annoying. He is a leader on the team and a general on the floor. He can shoot 3s and we have another PG that can play just as many if not more minutes than Fish. At 2.5-3.5 a season for 2 years it's a great deal.

I've never felt Fish was going anywhere. The talks with Miami were posturing plain and simple. The fact of the matter is: the Heat cannot pay him more than the veteran's minimum and no other team out there wants him at his salary demands. Fisher would be a fool to go somewhere for the same or less money than he can make with the team he's won 5 titles with.

During the regular season I talked crap about Fish on the daily. Then a funny thing happend, the playoffs came around and found myself saying "I take it all back, I will never talk crap about Fisher again." after every game.
If Bynum can stay healthy, I see us coasting in the regular season, especially now that much of the talent has trickled East. Hopefully that means Fish only plays the first 7 mins of each half during the regular season.

Lol i love most of the things about the Lakers i just dislike these things Phil refusing to give anyone not over the age of 30 a shot at any real playing time (mainly cuz of Fisher) Mitch overpaying anyone without ever thinking what that players real value is (Sasha Walton Bynum and now looks like Fisher) And Fisher playing anything over 10 mins a game with his horrid D None existent play making.

It justs seems to be a regular thing for fisher during the regular season. I guess its just a time for people to see how much they are capable of, and to see what fisher can do for our team. I expect much the same from fisher, a much below average season, a lot of doubters that he will just not deliver anymore in the post season and then he does just the opposite.

Well Bynum you can blame his agent for that. Sasha and Walton and Sasha you knew they are going to get their money either way. same thing with Fish. This is a money league either pay up or go home.

Lol you mean how by himself almost got us kicked out of the 2nd round vs huston by himself or how this year he almost by himself got us booted by thunder? Lol at people who use "fisher is god mode during the playoffs' you guys do know the other teams PGs all score over 20 PPG vs him and get atleast 8 assist? Do Fisher fans like he dose not know what D is?
Lol people talk about how he won it for us vs Orlando last year last time i checked it was game 5 we was up 3-1 at that point oo no we would of only had game 6 and game 7 at home left if we lost that game..... This year again he "won it for us in the finals" Last time i checked the games we blew out BOS Fisher was on the bench most of the game thanks to early foul trouble. Game 7's run was done while Fisher was on the Pine how irronic right? and his clutch shot in the finals is with 6 45 left in the clock come on this is just pathic. Maybe we should offer Sasha the Max cuz his FT's put the game away.....

Umm no Mitch was the problem he gave a contract to at the time hurt player while the worst thing Bynum could have done was become a RFA meaning even if he got the max *1 mil more per year* The Lakers could have matched no teams had capspace that year so the most anyone would have offerd is like 12 mil per year. With Sasha no teams was offering him anything all we hured about was some team overseas offering him a contract. Walton really? he should have let him walk this contract wouldnt have been as bad if it wasnt for the 6th year. Btw i blaim the new old ball that while Walton was shooting with it he was lights out from the 3

Well Mitch didn't want to take that chance because look what happened to Ariza. Face it David Lee is the Scott Boars of basketball which I will love to punch in the face. Sure Luke should had only had gotten 3 or 4 years, and also no one wanted to do trades with us or Sasha should had only gotten 2 years, but the fact is this is a money hungry league.

What point guard has Phil snubbed for Derek Fisher? Jordan Farmar? Shannon Brown? Javaris Crittenton? Sun Yue?
Derek is hands down, the best point guard we've had since Magic. I loved Van Exel and Chucky Atkins, but think about it... hasn't Phil already dumbed down Fish's role significantly?
He doesn't get a lot of regular season minutes. Odom and Kobe are the primary ball handlers. Jordan was given the reigns to be our future PG for 2 years... failed, and Shannon failed to take over last year. Now it's up to Steve Blake to instill the confidence we'll be fine without Derek 2 years from now. If you think Phil has unjustly given Derek precedence for no reason, you haven't watched the games.
He's not the greatest PG, but who on this team has been better?

i never doubted him come playoffs i knew he would deliver, but in the regular season he was just terrible. i always stated we should bring in hinrich just to save fishers legs for when those clutch situations come late in the playoffs fisher would be fresh. but now that we have blake i see fisher taking a very back seat and hopefully wont play any more then 15-18mins per though its fair to add he still will be starting only because hes old and its better for him to start warmed up as opposed to coming off the bench cold

1 of the reasons I believe Fisher struggled this year is because Phil did not trust Sasha and Farmar to run the point and Fisher logged in heavy minutes...
Harper played about 20 mins a game when he was with the Lakers when DFish backed him up and he saved alot of wear and tear when the playoff's started.

Fisher did not log heavy minutes at all, if your talking about the regular season. Phil Jackson tried to keep fisher's minutes below 30 during the regular season so he can save him for the post season, which he did successfully.
