probably no surprise, but Kupchak said he expects Fish to still be the starter.
http://twitter.com/LakersReporterKupchak said he anticipates that Derek Fisher will remain the starter, adding that there are "a lot of minutes" for Blake
http://twitter.com/KevinDingKupchack reiterated Fish is expected to start. Blake said he admires Fish: "I've always looked up to him. He's a winner."

Blake will get his PT and opportunities, he just needs to stay ready. I expect him to become a leader for the bench this season along with LO.

As long as Blake gets at least 25 MPG I don't give a rats ass who starts. In fact, I'd prefer that he get about 28 minutes and Fisher about 20. About the only thing that could possibly make our bench worse is if Fisher were leading the charge, so it's probably best that we hide his lack of on-court production by putting him with the starting unit.

I want us to add something else to that bench. Odom and Blake is a nice start, I love Walton too, but I want something more. I'll take Kurt Thomas and another wing to back up Bryant.
LA Bench
SF:Walton
PF:Odom
C:Thomas
SG:???? PLEASE DEAR GOD SEND US TRACY MCGRADY
PG:Blake

Fish fits well with the starters, I expect him to start to go into a more Finley role in SA.
Fish starts for 5 mins, Blake comes in for 13 min stretch or so, Fish finishes half. Plays few mins to start second half, Blake plays mid 3rd to mid 4th, Fish finishes...
I think we will get a healthy dose of Blake, i don't think Phil will pull him quick like Farmar becasue he's so much better at staying under control and managing the game.

Hatred?
What do we need to do? Suck his dick?
Look, I'm glad he's back. We all are. He's a valuable locker room presence and he's a guy that comes through for us in pressure situations, BUT, he's still one of the worst starting PG's in the league. His defense, outside shooting, and decision-making all suck at this stage of his career, so I don't see why in the world it's a bad thing that Blake get the bulk of the minutes.

That's probably exactly how it will break down. Play the first six minutes, 1Q; last four minutes, 2Q; repeat in the second half with necessary adjustments.

Wow why dont you take it down a notch buddy. And who is "we"? and yes, obvious hatred. And no one ever said it would be a bad thing if Blake gets the majority of the minutes. I just wanted to point out your hateful opinion on Fisher, judging by your posts its obvious.

It's not hatred to point out he was one of the worst starting point guards in the league last year, if not the worst. That's pretty much fact.

I still maintain the stance that if he were better we wouldn't need his clutch shots...

No reason to replace what's not broken. People here are misguided on Fish, he can still play but in limited stretches. Our problem was not having an adequate back up, bottom line Jordan sucked. His unwillingness to conform to the Triangle was his ticket out of LA. Blake will fill the role 100% better and he won't complain or pout. Case close.

Fisher is one of the worst starting PGs but I think Blake can be one of the best backup PGs so we will end up being fine in that department (better than we've been in recent years)

I still don't understand why people rip on Fisher. That's like saying Shaq is not what he used to be. Obvious people. The guy is smart on the floor, rarely takes an ill advised shot, willing to make the pass and accept his role as a facilitator and ball mover with a few scoring opps sprinkled in. His D has been largely overblown. He draws charges with the best of them. With that alone he is forcing plenty of turnovers. "he can't guard fast PGs"...really? Because everyone else in the league is just shutting down Deron, Paul, Westbrook and Rondo, right? That's like calling Kobe finished because Durant got the best of him at the end of game situation vs. OKC. A mismatch is exactly that, a mismatch, it doesnt always mean the player is trash.
I am not saying the guy is an All Star, but when options 1-4 read Kobe, Pau, Bynum, Artest, the man is not going to put up numbers. So all these posts I keep reading talk about "he's a great presence and does the little things but doesnt do much on the court" is really being look at the wrong way, there's a reason why the guy is not putting up crazy numbers and I don't think anyone expected him to when the Lakers signed him. At 3 million + a year in this NBA market...I'll take it. When the position is expected to get about 4-5 shots a game, its not a big deal who is in that spot, but I am sure glad it will be Derek Fisher and not some Smush Parker experiment.,

Lol this is going to be so much fun killing this Fisher fan so many stuff he said that is way wrong
If by rare take ill advised shot you mean he dosnt do break away 3- 1 pull up 3pt bricks then right oo wait he dose atleast twice a game.
If by willing to make the pass means only pass it to kobe right after he passes the 1/2 court and shots anything else that comes close to him seeing how he shot the 7th most shot last years for the lakers.
Lol what you was saying would be true if aposing PG didnt adv Magic type numbers vs the Lakers so no he "D" is not ever stated
Your right a Mismatch is a mismatch yet every pg in the league has a field day vs fisher.
So your saying cuz our other 4 are so great its ok to have a scrub how dose that make any sence at all. Shouldnt you be trying 2 have the 5 best on at all times?
what your saying he is expected to take 3 - 4 shots a yet he took 7.5 ontop of that this is how bad fisher is he shot the 7th most shots per game while having the 10%th ranked FG% on the team
the guy beat out Morrison by .003% from the FG% last year you know how pathetic that is?
