Could Caracter be the next Boozer?

Boozer was drafted real late 2nd round. Didn't have character problems but was a little overweight. He lost weight right away and was a steal. If Caracter didnt have off the court problems and was in this shape in college he would have went top 20 imo.

Ebanks is a good role player and will be better then Treva Ariza but it won't be til 2013.

If the Lakers get Lin and Hughes along with Blake that is about the best offseason anybody can have having only 2nd round picks and the midlevel. They probably did better then the Knicks offseason, well maybe not but not far off.

It would be the first time I can think of were a team got 3 rookies 2 2nd round and 1 undrafted were they are all above average starters and I think Lin and Caracter can possibly be borderline allstars. Ebanks won't be an allstar cause to many forwards but if he gets a jumper with his athletism and size at 6'9 who can play the 2-3-4.

If they get Lin they solved there pg problems backup wing positons and another big man with great backups.
(Blake solved there pg problems already but going into offseason thats what they needed)
Mitch is truely great.

Boozer is a beast at rebounding. Other than them being 2nd round picks, I'm not seeing the comparison.

no.

Booz is also a pretty good interior passer. At least from watching SL, Caracter isn't.

Haha, I think Booz sucks so yeah, he could be just like Booz!

Seriously though, Booz was one of the best, if not the best, Big in college while at Duke. There is really no comparison.

Even tho I agree with alot of it there is alot of "ifs" in this post. And I dont think anybody can say forsure if Caracter didnt have character problems that he would of been a top 20 pic. When I first started whatching Caracter he did remind me a little bit of Boozer but who can be sure yet? Ive also noticed how the overall perception in the boards has switched to Caracter being the better of our two draft picks; I still think that Ebanks could be the better player when all is said and done. Dont give up on Ebanks! As for Lin goes lol we havent even signed him yet, and theres a great chance that we are not.

Just like Von Wafer was the next Ellis.

I have to disagree that Caracter is not a good interior passer. I thought he showed some passing abilities during VSL.

The comparison to Booz.... heck NO!

Boozer was the 35th pick of the draft while Caracter was the 58th pick.

I'll be thrilled if he can give us one solid quarter a night. Anything beyond that is a massive bonus.

At this point Caracter could be just about anything... Including a fry-cook... Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I'm sure he'd be satisfied just to be the next Laker...

If he'd be satisfied just being 'the next Laker', then i hope he doesn't make the team. We don't need another Sun Yue/Karl/Morrison

Boozer should have been a first rounder. There are always ones who slip by. Caracter is miles away from Boozer. He might not even make the Lakers. He might end up over seas. Ebanks is also miles away from Ariza. It is not fair to compare the players from just 5 summer league games that they lost all 5 and the compition was not the highest.

Put the Lakers 2 second rounders up against NBA players. Now there is your test. I think they will not do as good as they did in the SPL.

We can only wish. I don't see him being the next Boozer, though. He will be good, but not as good.

Well, for that matter, do we want someone satisfied being 'the next Boozer'?

I guess, the point is, he's got a hell of a long way to go and a hell of a lot to prove just to make it past a camp invite, or D-League fodder... For all we know, he could be the next Malone, but I think it's foolish to put that much on the guy at this point.
I'm rooting for him to be good enough to be on the team for the next post-season. I'd be ecstatic if he was the next big Baby without the tears... But I just think it's way too early to tell.

OP, I think you're underestimating Ebanks, but I also think I overestimate what he can do. :crowded:

Morrison was actually legit and will have a come back, Karl - okay player, Yue... did he ever play a minute?

I'll be contented if at least one of our two second round picks makes the roster and be solid a contributor.

Crazy thing about Boozer is he was the 4th option on his college team at Duke.

Shane Battier/Jay Williams/Mike Dunleavy Jr.

If he went to school somewhere else and had the chance to develop and expose his offensive game he would have gone much earlier.
