Lakers C Bynum has successful knee surgery

Post#1 » by iamworthy » Thu Jul 29, 2010 1:22 am

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum is expected to be limited at the start of training camp after undergoing successful surgery on his right knee.

Bynum had surgery Wednesday in New York to repair a partially torn ligament in his right knee. The 7-foot center initially hurt his knee during the first round of the Lakers' run through the playoffs to their second straight NBA title.

Bynum postponed surgery during the postseason, starting each of the Lakers' 23 postseason games while averaging 8.6 points and 6.9 rebounds.

Although Bynum said the recovery time for the surgery was expected to be short, the Lakers said in a news release Wednesday that Bynum will be available "on a limited basis" when training camp opens Sept. 25.

Those are pretty damn good numbers in 24 mins considering he was practically playing on one leg.

it was painful to watch him trying to play in the second half of the final games. looked like he could barely put his full weight on the leg.

get well soon, bynum!

Hope Bynum doesn't get ahead of himself and he doesn't rush into things.

Hey, just wondering. You've got Bynum and Ratliff down low, any thoughts on Gasol playing some 3? Would he be good at it?

Good for Bynum!
The West is depleted. This is the year to become an Allstar. It's now or never! No lifting/carrying fine ass chicks either!

IMO, Gasol could handle the three... Minus the lack of speed which would be due to size, Mr. Spanish Fundamental has no weakness to his game.

But there is clearly no reason for the Lakers to do that! Heck no!! We need Pau for his natural 4 spot... Even Odom won't see time at the 3. There's just no minutes there.

Sir... Did you get this idea from video games??

Bynum/Ratliff
Pau/Odom/Caracter
Artest/Barnes/Ebanks/Walton
Kobe/*****/Barnes/Sasha
Fish/Blake/Sasha

This means he'll probably be out of shape when the season starts. Anyone know why it took so long to get the surgery done?

well he went to Africa 1st for world cup and then some said his knee swelling needed to come down more before surgery could happen.

Also, delayed several weeks because of his doctor's schedule. Doctors have other patients, too. Can't just bump them all b/c of Bynum.
