DJ Mbenga

Post#1 » by LApwnd » Thu Aug 5, 2010 12:10 am

I think we should keep him around and send Caracter oversees.....with Bos picking up Shaq I'm sure their chance of reaching the finals got a "little" bit better, even at 38, he still takes up a whole lota space and both Pau/Bynum got push around pretty good when we faced Clev last year and that was with Side Show bob doing most of the damage. Now Bos has both Oneals who are unique players in their own with Porkins coming back half of year, while rusty will also be somewhat Fresh. I think we need more big man dept and dont think caracter is ready yet.

I wouldn't be opposed to Kwame either, but can't see him coming back to the place where he was booed out of town.

Lakers know what they did to win the titles and their job is to reproduce it more in a more efficient manner. It is left for other teams to worry about back-2-back champs, not back-2-back champs being paranoid and worrying about every single move that other teams make.

We needed a second legit center anyway so our move to get Ratliff wasn't because of anybody else' moves. So here is what you have:

We have Pau and they have KG ==>Good!
We have Bynum so who do they have? Rasheed?? - (back/retirement/is he motivated enough = unknown). How about Perk? well to begin with, he is undersized/injured/unknown factor there too. So what do they do? They go out and get JO.
We have Bynum, they have JO ==> Good???? Nooooo Because the fact is that Bynum >> JO and Odom can guard JO. Keep in mind that Ratliff is there now and he is known as a defensive stopper. But there's no reason to worry about old Theo because You got Old Wallace and Perkins. So:
We got Theo, they got Perkins/Wallace ==>Good!

You still gotta do something about a healthy Bynum... so, In comes Shaq which is the Biggest Widest body available in the market. So to finish things off:
We got Bynum, they got Shaq == Good!
We got Odom, They got JO == Good!
Big Baby == Caracter ==> Good!

That leaves Semih wont see minutes. BTW might i add that Artest can guard Raheed's slow ass?

They dance to our tunes, we don't dance to theirs. Mitch don't give a $hit what they do.

If the Shannon news is accurate the Lakers are done they just got to sign the rookies and invite a few bodies for camp. Benga himself said he wants to play somewhere where he can get time the Lakers dont have that for him.

Mitch Kupchak prior to Ratliff's press conference:
"To add a player like Theo with his experience in the front court … obviously DJ (Mbenga) won’t be returning, so to have a player that will take that position with (Ratliff’s) experience (15 years), ability to defend, rebound, he’s good in the locker room. That will bode well for what we hope to do at that position."

I liked Dacos too, but it's a done deal that he won't be coming back.

honestly at this stage in his career, IMO DJ>Ratliff, at Ratliff age who knows how dependable he'll be even if he is the 3rd C.
