T-Mac or S Brown?

I know it is too late now, but Tmac seems to be getting the vets min offers. would you have rather Lakers waited a little longer on the Shannon Brown signing and see about getting T-Mac or you happy as we are?

I would have waited for T-Mac.

We needed some athleticism on the team and Shannon fit that but T-Mac has great court vision and he still got game just isn't as good as he used to be, overall I'm happy we got Shannon back just for that spark off the bench

I wouldn't mind giving TMac a shot at the team... But I think he's closer to 'DONE' than anybody is willing to say at this point, so I wouldn't do it at the expense of someone actually serviceable like Brown.

Add TMac for Vet Min in case Ebanks, Caracter or Walton can't go, not instead of adding Brown.

Brown still has good Legs...

And TMac thrives when the offense is geared towards his strengths... That's why he's having a hard time finding a contract now... He's never been a 'plu-n-play' player and we aren't going to change our system to fit him in. We have Odom running the Bench team most of the time... I just don't see TMac fitting in too well here.

Right now I'm happy with what we have. T Mac's health is always a concern and with Bynum's constant injury concerns I don't think the Lakers want to worry about losing a starter and then possibly losing even more depth because a bench player goes down.

I think with Farmar gone we could see a better Shannon Brown. When Blake is running with that 2nd unit he should be the primary ball handler so I think it will limit the amount of times Shannon is trying to play iso ball. Seeing Shannon try to go 1 on 1 with his man was always my biggest issue with him. I think with T Mac we would have saw the same thing this year. I'm not sure he is going to be over the type of player he once was so easily.

yeah im with u guys.. just doesn't fit our system i dont' think. I mean he has veteran experience but right now defense is the key.. i don't think he can hang with the other guards... not with that back of his anymore... But if we get rid of walton ... HE"S TOTALLY WELCOMED hehe

Yeah, that's cool. We should have waited. I know McGrady comes in to back up Kobe, but who backs up McGrady? That guys body is so far ruined that he can't even play a back to back anymore. Hell, they sat him out if the team had 2 games in 4 days at times last year for precautionary reasons.

That sounds like a true luxury to have.

Yeah, I'd rather lock up Brown. He probably plays 10-14 minutes, no Vujacic, no part time back up in McGrady, no headaches.

Great. Someone posts a GIF of an injured guy at his lowest point. We DEFINITELY shouldn't have looked at him at all!

if tmac is healthy and is willing to accept a role player's role then it's not close

he worked out for the clips and the bulls, and both passed. doubt tmac is worth the gamble.

I like how you refer to his "lowest point" as if he hasn't been on a constant decline since 2007.

As if he comes to LA and plays like it's 2001 all over again. The guy's 30 with the body of a 40 year old. T-Mac is done in every sense of the word, put the kool aid down. If you're into the whole collecting over the hill vets thing, you're supporting the wrong team. Boston seems to be your franchise.

I think it could've been worth the gamble, either he works and we get great production or he stinks and we roll with Sasha in contract yr and worse comes to worse, play Barnes as the backup 2 and give Ebanks a chance @ backup 3.

TMac is an incredible offensive talent but is unreliable due to health and attitude. He also plays no defense.
Brown is atheletic, young, and plays through injuries. He needs to improve defensively and in terms of being able to play within our offense.
But at least you can rely on him to come in off the bench and give you some minutes.

My vote goes to Brown. Much less of a gamble.

I think we need to look at our entire strategy in the FA this year to find out who we should sign. Rather than Ratliff, Barnes and Blake, we could've signed guys like Shaq, T-Mac and AI. But we didn't, why? Shaq, TMac and AI are more talented alone than the three guys we signed combined and yet we passed up on all of them. When you analyze it a little further, you realize that the three guys we signed all play defense. Our management knows that we cannot try to win this championship by outscoring the Heat, defense wins championships. As good a player as TMac is, and he still can drop 25 on any given night, he does not play defense at all. We need defenders and role players rather than another scorer and that is why Shannon Brown was the better choice.

Shannon is a LAKER flatout. He wants to be here, that shows loyalty. Loyalty is very key to chemistry and chemistry is vital in any teams success. Shannon all day.

Tmac is done. He had trouble even dunking the ball. He is slow and one wrong move away from another knee surgery.

Shannon is 24 and is a high light in the making. He might not be the best player. But for what the Lakers need. He is just perfect. Stong guard that can play the 1 or 2 and is getting better with more playing time.

I'm satisfied with 2 new additions to the offense (barnes and blake) Ratliff is just there for defense. Adding 3 significant pieces to our offense might be a bit too much shaking for my tastes to a twopeated team. These additions are slight yet massive, and adding a major piece like Tmac to all this might be a bit too much and throw some locker room chemistry/feeling off. I like it the way it is.

would love to just have tmac on the team - but again like ppl said before his pretty much done... unfortunatly for him considering he hasn't had a productive season for a long time!!

i remember watching him last season and he had problems getting up for a layup... so i wouldn't take tmac over brown.... tmac looks like his gonna be heading to the pistons cause thats the only team that could give him the role his looking for...
