http://www.nba.com/video/channels/nba_t ... tte_3.nba/I hate when Kobe talks up NY, and their fans being "so knowlegable,

They are arrogant pricks is what they are, talk a big game, think they have it all, ssppppt.

Rather live in Cali anyday, be a Laker fan with supposed "less knowledg" than live in that crap hole.

Ironic he says these things because the last time he was there playing, some typical East Coast idiot was on the sidelines droning on about how Kobe wasn't this and wasn't that, as if what he was saying was any less stupid than the opinion of a Kings fan because he had a NY accent.
East Coast bias is East Coast bias, whether it be Boston or NY. NY knowledge about the sport is mythologized. Mecca of basketball (MSG) is also an opinion they try to pass off as fact.

LOL @ You rather live in Cali. You must be a rich boy, because Cali is falling apart. Whenever you have to take away State workers salaries and pay them like a high school drop outs minimum wage, there's a big problem. The only thing CALI has is the Lakers. B E Z on disrespecting the East cause remember this is where the money is.

^ Similar chest puffing you'll see affixed to the basketball talk of an East Coast fan.
B E Z, by the way? Jesus...

New York Ballers are good and the fans seem to have more reverence for the game. However, we all know the NBA is full of players from fly over States. So there! How many top 25 players are from NYC. Not Philly or Maryland, but NYC?!! Umm yeah... Thought so.
As for money. The real money is Connecticut, Virginia, Texas places like that. Sure NYC may have more Millionaires per square mile but I don't think any of them live there year round. Most like they call NYC home but live in So Cal! LOL!

what money? wall street money? bank money? DC using our money to bailout their friends? you are correct, congrats. the dudes who stole money from the rest of the country certainly do reside in the east?
let me just say this, there is a reason why some of our grandparents decided to keep moving west and "pioneering" and some of your grandparents decided to stay where they were, satisfied with the status quo in the frozen hellhole. it more than just ancestors, it a cultural mentality.
its not a coincidence that best in every industry move here, even though we are the least business friendly state.
Google, Apple, Silicon Valley
Entertainment and Hollywood
Agriculture
Solar and Wind Power
National Parks
Beaches
and what does new york have? oh yes, the financial industry which caused the destruction of our entire country, how wonderful.
in regards to the topic however, i think kobe is right and it might actually be true that the average new yorker knows more about basketball than the average valley girl. to me it is indicative of their lack of diversity. out here we have football fans, soccer fans, baseball fans, basketball fans, surfing, skating, snowboarding, etc. out there basketball/yankees are the only option, so it stands to reason that if you are interested in sports in NY you have to obsess about one or both of those options. similarly, surfing/snowboarding/soccer/any sport that requires open space are not really available to NY youths so the option is basically basketball or nothing.

You must live in NY, be outside the money they speak about "where the money is" ??
I've lived in both places, trust me, NY sucks in comparison, unless you have 50 mill to afford the lifestyle to make it worth living there, if not? It's a hell hole.
NY Ballers are overated also, there's only been a few good ones over the years, waaayyyy overated area for talent.

Well if you compare the "ave New Yorker to a valley girl" Maybe they have a silght advantage.
other than that, they are no more knowledgable than any area.

I know what you say'in ILLMATIC, I've played against some New York cats myself.....busted them dudes ass at will. It's all hype and propaganda man. All them dudes are trying to make the And 1 circuit if you ask me.
When you look at the league it's just as many guys from the west coast in the NBA than there is east coast guys.

DEEP you have some out there opinions.
About every NBA great is from the east or midwest. From Kobe, Mello, Lebron, Durant, Elgin Baylor, MJ, Magic, Bird,Wade, Jerry West.
The west coast breeds soft basketball players. The east coast and midwest boys grew up playing in all kinds of whether on the black top.
I don't know many good west coast cats.
Washington dc has been producing the top prospects for years now.

Nah MJ I don't have "out there" opinions........I'm just too damn blunt. But the reality of it is the west produce just as many NBA players as the east does. I could give a damn what region it was. And I would pump the brakes on the "west breeds soft guys"........you do know Bill Laimbeer was a west coast product right ? He was nasty as they come. And Dennis Johnson wasn't soft either.....straight from the streets of Compton my man, I seriously doubt most of the guys you named saw half the sh*t he saw growing up in the hood. Trust me MJ it's some soft ass cats from the east coast too.
