Number 9: SUN YUE OR GTFO.

Entertaining article and a good read/chance to catch up on some old solid Lakers names if you haven't been paying attention to the Epic Lakers draft.

Eddie Jones. Just could not be that next special Laker. He did a lot of great things, just did not have that greatness in him to push the Lakers like Kobe has done.

Nick Van Exel. Thank you for that dart into the celtics heart.

Fox was there. Bet he was glad to come to the Lakers to win finally.

Elden Campbell...awwww yuck

Pig Miller...why where you around...

Number 8: Kobe Bryant, who's not just the greatest number eight in Laker history, but the greatest number eight for any team in any sport, ever.

Very interesting subject.

Is Kobe's legacy greater than Troy Aikman, Steve Young, Yogi Berra or Cal Ripken, Jr? when its all set and done?

I think so

Is Kobe the best #8 and #24 in sports history? Is he the only player to be the best of 2 numbers?

For Kobe in terms of NBA history, it comes down to whether or not his few years as 24 are greater than Moses Malone.

As far as #8 goes he is clearly second best after Rasho Nesterovic, although Walt Bellamy was no joke and assuming he keeps the same number, Deron Williams will have a great career.

/Edit - I forgot about Rick Barry at #24... that is close.

Yogi Berra #8
10x Rings (beats Kobe's 3)
15x All Star (beats Kobe's 6 )
3x MVP (beats Kobe's 0)

Kobe shouldve stayed with #8 to catch Yogi

I like Kobe better as 24. Was it taken when he came to LA, anyone know?

George McCloud and his 23 games that season had it. Next season, rookie Shea Seals had it. Then no one took it until Jim Jackson who had it the year before Kobe switched.
