The Lakers signed guard Steve Blake this summer, an addition that will likely help give veteran Derek Fisher some rest.
Andy Kamenetzky of ESPNLosAngeles.com writes that the Lakers may have finally found an option to start over Fisher.

Despite Fish's clutch shooting / providing such invaluable leadership and possessing that vocal presence I wouldn't mind Blake starting at all.

here is the quote from the article and not the realgm wiretap (and we all know about the realgm wiretap

)
Blake will get a shot, and I think the Lakers have finally landed the right guy. (At the very least, they landed a guy who has made a career out of bringing his best against the Lakers, so a semi-thorn in the side has been removed.)
that Blake will get a shot is not a secret. I would change the tittle to something more like "Blakes role with the Lakers" and make a case why Blake will take Fishers job, but that is just me.

just some guy that obviously doesnt know what hes talking about or just wants to boost his article ratings. either way i doubt blake will start only because phil wants fisher to get that burn while hes still somewhat warmed up as oppose to coming off the bench cold and having to fire up his old bones. The real question is who will be the man to finish out the games. IMO it all depends on match-ups while blake will indeed finish the majority of the games

Regular season doesn't matter and Fish played like a lame duck last year until the playoffs. If Blake can get Fish fresh for the playoffs, I could care less who starts.

Blake is the best option we've had in awhile as far as someone who can at least compete for a starting gig. I don't think it would be a bad situation at all.

Fisher will start for most of the season as Blake learns the offense... He may see some starting time later in the season or if Fish needs more rest, but when the post-season rolls around Fish will start again... He may not stay on the floor long, but he'll be first out the gate and will be in when the game counts.
Next year may be different. But the Triangle takes a couple years to grasp fully and it's hardest for the ball handler/distributor...

He might start now and then. Maybe back to back games. I think it will take some games for him to learn the triangle. So untill then. Fish will start.

Does it really matter? I think Fisher will finish games, which is more crucial.

depends on how fst blake picks up the triangle, if he learns it fairly quick, expect blake to finish games.

LA's starting PG just needs to facilitate the offense and play off the ball well. Both Fisher and Blake can do both. But Blake would be more effective with the second team since he adds more of an offensive spark than Fish which is more necessary when the likes of Kobe/Pau/Bynum are on the bench resting. In all reality, the starting PG doesn't matter so much for LA as the "finishing" PG, whoever closes out the fourth. It would be nice to see Blake perform well enough to take that from Fisher but either way, I go with whoever is playing better.

Fisher's going to be complete garbage in the regular season, it's inevitable. We've seen it for the past 2-3 years. Blake can take all of his minutes in the reg season, but when it matters the most, Fisher will drink some of that kool-aid and we're good to go.

Fisher can also reign in Brown and Vujacic if they start playing a little out of control.

I'm the type of fan to see the Lakers go through the toughest playoff schedule with close games on the line. That one year where the Lakers went 15-1 in the playoffs was B-O-R-I-N-G!

I don't believe it till I see it...
I sure would like some of that Kool-Aid Fish drinks in the playoffs though.

i would have to agree but let me just say this watching that game 7 finals i think i aged a bout two or three years in a matter of hours... and to add on that 2001 15-1 postseason run, you got to admit that was straight domination, and if it wasnt for that lay-off we took after murking the spurs it would've been 15-0 no doubt
