Sacramento County Sheriff’s spokesman Tim Curran told The Bee that Barnes and the woman who resides with him had a physical confrontation with Barnes being the primary aggressor. The woman would presumably be Gloria Govan, whose wedding to Barnes was recently called off although the two told VIBE they were continuing their relationship and would appear again on VH-1’s reality TV show “Basketball Wives.” The two have twin boys together.
Barnes, 30, is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Woah, woah, woah.
I'll certainly agree that Barnes is an idiot either way for his actions, but I would like to know why he did it and exactly what happened before I start throwing my arms up in defeat over his ability to contribute to our team.

Didn't he slap some guy at a summer league game? Barnes needs to cool it out. Like DK, said we need to know more of the facts, but regardless what an awful way to start a career in the P&G.
ADDITION: I'm sure the Lakers would have looked into this, but doesn't it seem like maybe Barnes' attitude might be the reason a guy has played for so many teams? I hope he doesn't mess with our team chemistry.

yes he was a fool for this, but as long as he helps us threepeat I could care less. He is basically a year rental he'll opt out of his second year and become a free agent again which I highly doubt we re-sign. He was cheap and if worst comes to worst wrap is a$$ up with Sasha a trade deadline.

In California, all Domestic Violence arrests start as a Felony. Even one small slap or push starts as felony. This was created in the aftermath of OJ/Nicole. Most are plead down to misdemeanor if they were not serious altercations.

Lakers forward Ron Artest plans to auction his championship ring for the benefit of mental-health awareness.
"I'm never going to put it on," he said.
Artest plans to soon announce details of what he hopes will become a worldwide auction. He, along with his Los Angeles teammates, will receive the ring on Oct. 26 in a pre-game ceremony before the team opens the season against the Rockets.
"You work so hard to get a ring, and now you have a chance to help more people than just yourself, instead of just satisfying yourself," he said. "What's better than that? For me, this is very important."

Now I think this is worth talking about, people play hard their whole careers to get one and soo many stars fall short of this goal, and this man sees the bigger picture in helping the youth. I commend him for this, and also look at it as if he strongly believes he has another title coming his way this year. I love it

Cheebus... first he slaps the weird league coach and then this? Barnes seems of control. I guess we're trying to wrestle league villain back from the the Miami Spice Girls. Definitely not stoked on this kind of publicity or what he may do to Ron's temper over a season.
