Pure domination my man.......pure domination. Seen a lot of that action live, what a show it was. It will NEVER be duplicated ever again.

Seriously OP, at least act like you know.

Showtime Lakers WERE pure domination, some of the best basketball you can witness, just the way Magic flowed with the offense will never ever be seen again.

I never knew either but my dad had a lot of vhs tapes of showtime and had a lot of footage of Kareem in Milwaukee and after watching that Kareem is easily the greatest player to play the game

Remember all those great moment of the show time 80's lakers.

Only one that is not really a show time Laker was Orlando Woolridge. He came later on. But he could dunk with the best of them.

I'm fairly sure there are actually rules about generic thread titles - specifically aiming at things that end in .... and don't give the true meaning of the thread. For example, if I made this thread it would say, "Never Knew Showtime was So Exciting"

im not gona 'act' like i knew a team when i never did, since it was before my time...

and title changed for the sensitive heads.

as far as showtime goes, until i watched that vid, i dont think there would be a single team EVER that magic, worthy, kareem, cooper, rambis, etc couldnt beat...
i dont know how how they were defensively, but offensively they were sure fire.

That brand of basketball will never ever be played again. It takes a truly special player like Magic to run an offense that looks so out of control yet so efficient like that.

I'm 29 so I barely had a chance to watch it in the 80's. But I use to remember how excited my family was every time there was a game on. I never seen Magic in his prime. But from watching countless and countless of tapes. He's still and will always be my favorite Laker.

To me, Magic was the BEST ever.

Jordan was the best athlete, Wilt and Kareem were more dominan, but Magic was the by far the best combination of self-less leader, versatility, and team play.

I always tell people that Magic is the greatest by explaining to them that he is the ONLY player who could make me look like a legit NBA player. I'm no slouch but Magic had that true innate ability to make others better around him.

Sorry, but to me Jordan couldn't do that. Playing with Jordan, from what I hear, was a chore. Jordan selfishly seemed more concerned with breaking your spirit then lifting it up.

And to be fair, Jordan never won a thing until Phil Jackson implemented a SYSTEM that forced him to play team ball. Magic never had to be forced or coersed into playing unslefish team ball.

Magic is the GOAT ... straight up and down. Unless you grew up in the late 70s and 80s you really have no idea how great Magic really was.

Magic Johnson is the only reason why I Love and Live the Game of Basketball so deeply to this day.

Everyday after basketball practice after school I would watch this VHS Magic Johnson documentary "Always Showtime" narrated by Danny Glover.

When Magic had to reitre the game of basketball I was in the 4th grade.
One of the Worst Times in my LIFE.
I was sick for a month.

You know... Byron Scott was known for his perimeter shooting but he could really throw it down with the best of them too!

...Which is why, when people equate LeBron to Magic, monks start punching little old ladies...

It's amazing to me that anybody on those teams had any fingers left.
