Bynum injury thread (Update P15: Expects to be out till Dec)

Post#1 » by zen_4_10 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 5:04 pm

Surprised nobody else posted this yet

http://lakersblog.latimes.com/lakersblo ... games.html

There's nothing like starting your morning with some Andrew Bynum news.

Keep refreshing the comments threads because the news isn't good for the Lakers. To which you reply in frustration: "Of course it isn't good. News involving Andrew Bynum's health is never good."

NBA.com's David Aldridge reports that Bynum will not play in any preseason games and hasn't been cleared for any basketball activities after having arthroscopic surgery this summer on his right knee. Aldridge says Bynum will travel with the team and that the Lakers hope he will be cleared to do some preseason work.

Thanks zen.... hmmm well at this point it's more like get healthy stay healthy... if it takes a while... fine.

Think of it as time for Ratliff to earn his keep on D and D Caracter to develop.

As long as he comes back healthy this doesn't bother me. No need to rush the return.

geesh Bynum and his health... :noway:

At this point i'm thinking... keep him out for as long as it takes for him to get 100% even if he ends up not being an allstar in a depleted WC and even if he has to miss entire January games! Sit him out! Enough with the chronic ish.

I'm fine with it mostly because I kind of saw this coming during the title run. It was well worth it. And, this shouldn't come to a surprise to anyone really.

It's not his fault, but if he can't give us 70 games, and a good playoff run, I think I'm about ready to throw in the towel.

ugh! I'm inclined to agree........ wtf is wrong with this kid? I thought it was a meniscus tear that took around 3 weeks to heal?

If he cant stay healthy this season, we gotta look to trade him

I don't care... Hell, wait till all-stars and come back after that...
It's not who starts healthy, it's who finishes healthy... I just want him back long enough before the play-offs to play himself in shape and get in the flow. F-preseason...

The bad thing is if he doesn't stay healthy this year he wouldn't have much trade value (think Luke Walton) maybe not that bad but...

I just want a 100% healthy playoff run from him, I could care less about the regular season.

Exactly! You guys and your knee jerk reaction with the sudden urge to cry like girls over a health report everyone saw coming...Jesus. If it wasn't clear a season ago we had a 7 footer with a huge frame on bad knees on the team, it should be clear now.

The kid busted his tail off during the title run, or is memory loss growing rampant around here again? What a disgrace. He can take till the All-star break, if it means him coming back at full strength for another title push, I'm not complaining. :P

while to a certain extent I agree with those who say keep him out and as long as he is healthy in time for the playoffs ( I see your point) but honestly with the Heat, Mavs,Thunder and Celtics out there we need to finish with the best record for home court advantage in these playoffs. This is why it was so important for him to come back healthy at the very beginning and limit his minutes to ensure he'd be fit for a playoff push. Didn't he and Kobe have the same surgery? The same surgery that took Brandon Roy a couple of days to heal from. The original report was like a 3 week time frame, what happened to that. I'm not saying go into panic mode just yet, but this has to raise some eyebrows. We do not need Miami going into the playoffs with an added confidence because they finished with the best record and will have Home court throughout the playoffs. End result give him a chance, but how many?

its ok to miss pre season but if you guys think he'll be ok if he misses all the way up to all-star and come back and be useful then I would have to disagree, he might even end up getting hurt sooner trying to catch up to the pace of the game by then. I'm a pessimistic, I dont think Bynum will ever stay healthy when it counts.

The first hit... next thing he'll miss the start of the season then 2 more weeks then he won't be back until All-Star then he *might* come back for the playoffs....
