I'm in love with Steve Blake

And i've only known him a couple weeks.

Its moving fast, I know.

But he's bringing things to the relationship I haven't experienced in too, too many years. Precision passing? Controlled dribble-driving?

A brain?

Is this really the Lakers? I thought we had a ruling against this kind of play from our point guards? If Steve isn't careful he'll be traded by the time he can complete his next drive and kick for an easy basket.

Over and over tonight I kept saying to myself:

"Farmar wouldn't have done that"

It was great.

We're still fresh off the honeymoon. Pie in the sky, baby. I keep thinking, Is this a dream? Is this really happening?. I feel like Pinocchio's father, Giuseppe. "A point guard! A real point guard!"

*wipes tear*

Blake has already exceeded my expectations, and I hope he's getting 30 MPG very, very soon.

I also hope that we do the right thing and move Bynum to the bench. I get the feeling that him and Blake would work extremely well together, and that would allow us to play Pau/Kobe reduced minutes throughout the season. Instead of having a "trio" of options (which we'd still have with Odom/Pau splitting minutes at the 4) we'd always have a solid 1/2 punch and never let up.

Drew to the bench should have happened a season ago. I hope you're right, sentient.

I'm actually on the fence with Steve Blake. It's just the preseason and it's not easy to get acclimated with the triangle...but he looks lost. His facial expression and his body language tells me so. And I realize that he shoots 39% from 3pt but he also shoots just 41% from 2pt. The mechanics in his shot looks awful. It looks no better than Chuck Hayes' FT [/exaggeration]. Hopefully things will change during the early course of the season and I'll think otherwise.

I feel like it's easy to like him after his good game against GSW (and the lasting impression of his triple double against LAL in the last game of the last season)...but I also saw his empty games leading up to the GSW game.

We still haven't seen the full potential of this New Bench Mob yet.

Once the Lakers as a team gets to 100% ( BYNUM) .
Lamar will be back at the bench with Blake , Brown, and Barnes!!!!

This Laker team is gonna be a major threat 1-12!

I didn't get to see much of last night's game, so pretty much this ^ was my impression of Blake thus far.

Although hopefully it's just him finding his niche on the team...sounds like he's on his way? IDK didn't get to record it.

SS brings up an interesting point though and even if Bynum isn't moved to the bench, Blake should see plenty of minutes with him.

I've been a fan of Blake since his Maryland days, and I'm sure he'll blossom with the talent on the Lakers. Definitely a good guy to have running point, whether he's starting or playing as a backup.

I like what I've seen. He's really quick and has run some nice breaks (something we really sucked at last season), and tends make the right decisions instead of forcing the issue (which Fisher and Kobe are guilty of frequently). He's had some impressive spurts where we've gotten a glimpse of what he's going to eventually consistently bring. I think he's going to be a bit reserved until he gets it down (smart guy, will get it sooner than later), so once it starts coming naturally he'll be very effective. I suspect he's going to have a really good year behind the arc as well once he spends more time on the floor with Kobe and Pau -- hopefully a career year.

Semi, How much basketball have you watched. Laker fans have been begging for Steve Blake for the last 3 years. Dude it the perfect PG....low TO high IQ. I posted a thread asking if he was the best true PG since Nick the Quick. Anyhow, Blake is so underrated its not even funny.

Can't say that I've seen a whole lot of Blake outside of when we've played the Blazers (and that Clippers game where he triple-doubled).
