True laker Fans

Post#1 » by Newtonslee » Thu Nov 4, 2010 10:35 pm

This is to the true laker fans that have been following this team through the bad time. I am enjoying the progress of the team so far. I LOVE the BENCH so far, but am really concerned about our defense. We are giving up about 101 point a game, that is too much for a championship team. Remember 2007-2008 when we were the best offensive team in the playoffs till we met Boston's defense. We are better on offense from last year, but I feel our defense is bad.what do y'all think

Season is still early. They'll figure it out in time for the playoffs.

lol @ fans always picking something to point out even when the Lakers are undefeated

I must say since being a fan since I was 4.5 years old( My father did somting right for once...lol) I think 2003-08 were ther hardest years for me to deal with. I cried when:

2003 after losing to the Spurs
2004 after losing to the Pistons
2005 after not making the playoffs and not demanding Wade in the Shaq trade
2006 after being up 3-1 over the Suns and losing the next 3 games to them
2007 after losing to the Suns
2008 after losing to the Celtics after storming trough team in the playoffs

As I look back over it I'm still happy for our team, it has mad us stronger as for our defense it comes in when we need it and thats during the playoffs and the season is still young so nothing to worry about

Our defense hasn't really been bad IMO. It has more to do with the fact that we are scoring so much.

Phil Jackson knows he has a veteran team so theres no way hes gonna force them to play hard nose defense all year. As the season progresses they will slowly improve. Theres no rush.

Still waiting for a healthy Bynum, more time and chemistry among new players and bench, healthy Kobe. The Lakers will turn it up come playoff time.

There's no Brian Cook, Samaki Walker, or Slava, so I think everything will be allright.

Don't look too much into it. The Kings, Suns, and Warriors all have top 5 rated offenses. They've been playing well, and we actually did a respectable job. The Rockets are also looking decent offensively and rated 9th best in the league.

The amount of points that we give up doesn't bother me as much since we play at a faster pace. The important thing is that opponents are shooting .431 against us and that's good for 9th best. Once Andrew comes back we'll have another big and our defense/rebounding will be that much better.

It's worth mentioning that Kobe's lateral movement sucks as well, and that's going to take some time to improve due to surgery/conditioning. He's not going to over excerpt himself anyway, at least not until the playoffs. Ron is probably pacing himself as well.

We'll be fine when it matters.

agreed. Dfish has already been interviewed about this, they know whats up. their goal is to improve their defense where teams score only 90 max. nothing to worry about yet.

Got to remember the 1990's. No championships. So we have to remember how lucky we are to have Kobe here for 15 seasons and a few more. There will be times in the future were we might not be the best out there. We will have to rebuild and hope to develope some young players who will lead the team into the future.

When people say we should trade a #1 for this player or that player. That is good for now. Just those young players might be the core of the team in the future and if there is no picks then the Lakers might be in trouble.

Just count our blessing and hope for more to come.

About 20 of those 101.3 points per game are because we have a lead, put the bench in. our team tends to get lazy when up 25 points. it doesn't mean we can't make the key stops when needed. Our defense can make stops when the game is on the line, and that's what a championship team needs. Of course we're gonna give up a lot of points when we are up 25-30 points a game...you stop trying, the other team tries more...or its a bunch of bench players, etc.

if we only count games up to when garbage time is announced...

i'm sure our differential would be around 20 instead of 13

This.......plus the fact we've played 4 of our 5 games against teams that want to push a high tempo. Don't worry about the points allowed right now, it'll drop once we play the slower pace teams.

Lakers play at a fast pace and in turn, higher scoring games for both them and the opposing team, because of more possessions. I also don't see how this has anything to do with being a true Laker fan? lol
