Will the next generation be championship caliber?
In 6-8 years when all of our 30 year olds are retired are the Lakers still a championship caliber team with a starting 5 of:
PG: Top 5 free agent (cp3, Dwill, etc)
SG: S. Brown
SF: Ebanks
PF: Character
C: Bynum
if all reach their ceiling, I say yes.

but in all seriousness, that is soo hard to tell. 6-8 yrs is a longgg time. LA is an attractive place for a lot of stars.. so i see ur potential elite guard, and raise a strong wing player who is a stud of a scorer. hopefully LA will be a championship contender then.. but we all know what happened a few yrs ago when we had smush (tierre brown? lol), kobe, luke (radman ewww), odom, mihm(kwame) as a starting lineup.. anything can happen.

There is a high probability that LA signs a big name free agent once Kobe/Gasol/Odom are all gone.

This is a pretty bad thread. I doubt any of them will even be in Laker uniforms 6-8 years from now.

One day the Lakers will have to face that they can not go over the tax and must cut back. They win, they can afford to pay crazy money to whoever they have.
Look at the 1980's. After it was over. Lakers did not win a championship at all in the 1990's, So it could be a while after all the stars are gone that it will take a few years to rebuild. Which in all fact is good for the league to have other teams win now and then.

Thanks for wasting your time on a pretty bad thread. It was so bad it prompted you to take time out to post on it. I'm not sure your logic on doubting any of them will be on the roster considering:
-MGT refused to trade bynum when his value was higher than it will ever be
-these are the first 2 rookies to EVER see the floor this early into the season under phil, and they are seeing first half minutes even though our roster is stacked
-5 players on our current roster have been on the team for 7 or more years, so to see these players as lakers in 6-8 years is not that far of a stretch.
Im looking forward to hearing more of your negativity.
In regards to laduane talking about "poor jerry buss cutting costs"....all I can say at this point is lol

in 6 years? just think about all the things that happened for us in the last 6 years. From shaq leaving, kobe wanting to leave, exiting playoffs in the 1st round year after year. and now were back on top for a 2nd straight year. Anything can happen..

I replied to your bad thread so you know not to make more bad threads in the future. There are enough of them on the GB. Seriously guy you are saying our team 6-8 years will revolve around Shannon Brown, Ebanks and Cararcter and a 31 year old healthy and dominant Bynum and you want to discuss "Potential". Then to make it worst you call me out for being critical of your thread as if you have a valid argument.

Really I hate to say this to a fellow Laker fan but you really do fail at RealGM, really, I am not just saying this to push your buttons, better you ditch your current screenname and start over, or perhaps quit posting altogether.
Oh BTW.

Coming from a guy who:
a) posts on nba forums at 2am from the darkness of his rats-nest
and
b) doesn't know the difference between "worst" and "worse"
and
c) gets satisfaction by attempting to anonymously demean other people's hypothetical questions on a freaking lakers forum
and
d) keeps a "cool story, bro" clip art saved on his desktop so he can post it daily during his message board orgasms,
I think I'll take your opinion with a grain of salt. Here's a piece of advice: if my hypothetical question disturbs you so much, simply click the "back" button on your browser and stop wasting your time.

Another cool story bro, you sure have lots of them. Your thread shows you know nothing about the Lakers nor do you know about potential. Also your thread doesn't bother me as much as it bothers you. You openly started a thread on a public forum asking for feedback and opinions and almost everyone here gave you a negative reply. Again, you seriously asked if a team of Caracter, Brown, EBanks and again 31 year old Bynum have any potential. Potential for what, come now???

Guy quit while you can.
As for me posting at 2AM, I can do whatever the hell I want I am a grown man and if I feel like going on RealGM so be it. I don't need to be in bed at a certain time as you do silly guy. You also seem to be getting mad and that to me doesn't seem that you are taking my opinion with a grain of salt, I think you were looking for some sort of reassurance from members here that you could forsee a great team of Ebanks, Caracter, Brown, etc. Again LOL.
Also don't talk to me about spelling or grammar as you don't even know the difference between "Caracter" and "Character".
I am now done with you, seriously done.

The Lakers always get great players not matter what. I think we can land Paul and another big name if we weren't over that cap
