Horribly tragic :(

Hopefully we'll see stricter safety precautions at arenas now though. Sad that things like this have to happen first.

So sad. My thoughts and prayers go out to the child's family.. This is just a terrible thing to go through as a parent.

Heard this on the morning news today. I know a sorry won't give them their son back, but my apologies and empathy go out to the family nonetheless.

You know, when I've gone to Staples, I've always thought to myself how easy it would be to fall over the railings and/or glass if I were to have to a bad slip.

Just shows you need to watch the kids all the time. Babies even more. Sad...RIP... Maybe the Lakers will do something before a game. Moment of slience or something.

This is something people without kids say all the time. Truth is its almost impossible to watch your kids AT ALL TIMES. It can only take a second for something bad to happen. Then there can be the "I thought you were watching him" "No, you said you were watching him". Sometimes horrible accidents happen and it's just bad luck.

My heart breaks for this family.

OT - Staples Center: Accidental Death Investigation

Post#17 » by H00PDREAMS » Tue Nov 23, 2010 3:23 pm

Having seen several games from the nosebleed section of the Staples Center I am really not surprised. I always knew that that glass was too short. I knew someone someday would go over. My friends all thought the same. Its very sad. Why couldn't the Staples Center OSHA people see this as inevitable just as I and my friends could. :-?

Hornets rookie coach Monty Williams was subdued when he brought up the tragedy during his pregame speech.

“To have a child die at a (venue) where you’re planning on having a good time, it’s got to be a tough tough thing to go through,” Williams said. “Somebody’s family has changed in an instant, and then we go right back in here playing—almost like business as usual—while the family is still grieving.”

Said Lakers coach Phil Jackson: "Very sad. It's a very sad situation. I'm very sorry for that family and saddened by the whole event that it would happen at one of our games."

my deepest sympathy for the family, have a 2yr old too turning her into a lil laker fan as we speak, can't imagine how much devastation this would cause me if I were in that situation.
