Danny Ainges ability to land Jermaine O'Neal and The Diesel to go with frontcourt players Garnett, Glen Davis and Perkins represents a posing problem both for and against that celtics team..it will certainly help their ability to play a physical style to throw at Dwight in Orlando, Pau, Andrew and Lamar in LA and Bosh in Miami, but i worry about the amount of minutes Docs going to spread to not only please all those guys, but keeping them playing at a cohesive level, which may work in our favour..is Glen Davis going to be happy playing 6 mins a game, is Jermaine gonna be happy with a couple of DNPs coaches decision??
Whats got me wondering though is, the protocol for LA going forward with Pau, Andrew and Lamar, is 1 more quality front court player, who will give us 15-20 mins a game, heres a list of the guys available next year who are plausible, possible or impossible to get, who best fits our plan, let me know..
Kendrck Perkins 6-10 C- unlikely
Glen Davis 6-9 F/C- possible
Nazr Mohammed 6-10 C- unlikely
Tyson Chandler 7-1 C- impossible, unfortunately!
Kenyon Martin 6-9 PF- maybe
Shelden Williams 6-9 F/C- possible
Dan Gadzuric 6-11 C- possible
Yao Ming 7-6 C- very unlikely would accept an MLE offer, depending on the CBA
Jared Jeffries 6-11 F/C- possible
Chuck Hayes 6-6 C- possible
Josh McRoberts 6-10 F/C- possible
Jeff Foster 6-11 C- possible
Zach Randolph 6-9 PF-impossible
Marc Gasol 7-1 F/c- impossible
Troy Murphy 6-11 F/C-possible
Kris Humphries 6-9 PF- possible
Nenad Krstic 7-0 C-maybe
Joel Pryzbilla 7-1 C- i hope so!
Samuel Dalembert 6-11 C-would love to get him!
Carl Landry 6-9 PF- unlikely we afford
Reggie Evans 6-8 F/C- modern day Rodman

A lot of interesting names. What the Lakers are paying there players. It would come down to a player who is good but not going to be making much money. A ring chaser. With Walton and Sasha making about 5 million a year. It will be hard to get them off the books for any real help this season. Not going to worry about next year or the year after that. We are going for it all this year and we need to stay healthy.

It would have made more sense to sign Brad Miller this summer than Steve Blake and Matt Barnes. The Lakers needed a center more than a point guard or small forward.

Most of the players listed are honestly too expensive for us. All we need is someone who can come in and give us a decent 10 minutes off the bench. A player of Mbenga's caliber would do. Caracter, from what I've seen, really sucks and needs to go to the D-League to refine his game, especially his rebounding and defense.

Wheres the Elonu guy we drafted a while ago? I think he'd be perfect for us right now. Hustle and defense is all we need.

last I heard he wasn't doing very well in Euroleague either, so I doubt he would do much here, considering your assesment of Caracter and he made the team I highly doubt Elonu is the answer since he didn't make the team himself. If I had to chose thats reasonable and could be effective I would say Pryzbilla, he is that the tough inside banger we need and is quite a shot blocker. He could actually start next to Pau making Bynum expendable, I mean all these years we needed from Bynum was to play D and Reb and whatever he brings on O was a bonus, that is Przybilla to a T minus the offense.

My take:

Kendrck Perkins 6-10 C- Won't happen. Simple as that.
Glen Davis 6-9 F/C- No, OP, not possible. We'd have to give up something good for him or Perkins. Not realistic, at all.
Nazr Mohammed 6-10 C- He said he wants to retire as a Bobcat. Jordan won't let him go, cheap.
Tyson Chandler 7-1 C- Not even worth mentioning.
Kenyon Martin 6-9 PF- Have you seen his contract? Another easy "no."
Shelden Williams 6-9 F/C- Possible, but he's playing well for Denver. So unlikely.
Dan Gadzuric 6-11 C- This one is a bit realistic.
Yao Ming 7-6 C- Why would you even mention this one? Not even in the realm of possibility.
Jared Jeffries 6-11 F/C He's not really a "big." He isn't the answer to our problems.
Chuck Hayes 6-6 C- Houston isn't letting him go for anything we'll give him.
Josh McRoberts 6-10 F/C- He's STARTING for Indiana. Probably out of reach.
Jeff Foster 6-11 C- Available for a high price, I doubt we have what it takes.
Zach Randolph 6-9 PF- Again, why even mention it? He's not a C. We need a C.
Marc Gasol 7-1 F/c- Pipe dream, but it would be astounding.
Troy Murphy 6-11 F/C- Wishful thinking. NJ wouldn't give him up for anything we'd offer.
Kris Humphries 6-9 PF- He's been playing really well lately, actually starting for NJ. Won't happen.
Nenad Krstic 7-0 C- How do you think this is possible?
Joel Pryzbilla 7-1 C- See above.
Samuel Dalembert 6-11 C- I'm seeing a trend of unrealistic prospects.
Carl Landry 6-9 PF- La de da
Reggie Evans 6-8 F/C- Not a center.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but virtually all of these possibilities are unrealistic. Consider that when the Lakers initially stated they wanted a temporary big, they meant they wanted to SIGN someone. Meaning we wouldn't be making a trade. We aren't going to trade a significant piece, and no one is realistically going to want Sasha or Luke. Our realistic possibilities are guys not currently on NBA teams. Guys like Paul Davis, Sean Williams, etc.

these are free agents in 2011. it doesn't matter what they currently earn, but what value the market dictates and whether the lakers (armed with the MLE) will be able to lure/afford.

sasha will be off the books, he's an expiring this season.

unless you want to entertain S&T offers to pay these guys max >MLE money, theres probably no way 1) teams will want caracter/ebanks + S&T'ed sasha + picks and 2) kupchak is going to use those assets to pay a FA more than MLE money

lakers aren't trading for these guys. these guys are out of a contract come summer 2011.

if those FREE AGENTS want to come trophy hop with the lakers, they are well within their rights as unrestricted free agents to do so. the lure of a ring can't be understated. the MLE has been used to land notable FAs such as ron artest, blake, barnes, jermaine o'neal, mike miller etc.

the market value of some of these names don't exceed (or shouldn't) 7mil per season, if lakers offer the full MLE (thats what they'll earn over 5 years) and a heck of a better chance to win than a few of the players' current teams. then the lakers have more than a fighting chance at a few of these FAs

marc gasol is an absolute pipedream, since he's RFA and memphis will most certainly match a MLE deal

perkins, BBD are likely to re-sign in boston. chandler in dallas, mcroberts in indy.

yao ming, randolph, gasol; the lakers are going to be priced out of these guys

nazr, kmart, foster, murphy, humphries, krstic, pryz, landry have market value in and around the MLE range p.a. and can be had with a little bit of luck and who kupchak will most definitely be coveting in the summer of 2011

Elonu is playing in Greece for Panionios. He's there starting C and is avg 8.5pts and 6.3rbs 1.2blks shooting 62% fg 47%ft and 20min a game.
