Jamaal Wilkes HOF Nominee Again.
Maybe he has a better chance this year since the potential class is much weaker compared to last year. I personally hope he gets in, its time for the Lakers to add another number to the rafters its been 15 years since the Lakers last retired a number.

They both should be in the Hall of Fame.
Let's not overlook Silk.
Obviously Ima and myself were just a little too young( 80's babies) to understand Silk's greatness but he was a solid superstar back in the days.
I know he was a key component in beating the Celtics in Boston for the first time in 1985.
Also I know that Jamal was a key mentor to a young Magic Johnson during his first years in the NBA.
He might not get in again, but it's no doubt he deserves to be in.
Silk, Tex, Reggie Miller and Rodman are the four I'm hoping gets the vote this time around

HOF committee is a joke, Stockton is in with no rings but Wilkes and Tex aren't.

2x NCAA National Champion
NBA Rookie of the Year (1975)
4x NBA Champion (1975, 1980, 1982, 1985)
3x NBA All-Star
3x All-NBA Second Team
2x NBA All-Defensive Second Team
-Silk alongside Bill Walton were the leaders on that UCLA team that won 88 games straight.
-In 12 professional seasons with the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers,
and Los Angeles Clippers, Wilkes was a member of four NBA championship teams.
One with Golden State in 1975, the season he was named Rookie of the Year
and three with the Lakers (1980, 1982, 1985)
-For his career, Wilkes registered 14,664 points (17.7 ppg) and 5,117 rebounds (6.2 rpg), averaging 16.1 ppg in 113 postseason games proving to be one of the fiercest competitors the NBA has ever seen.
If you were to ask John Wooden R.I.P, Magic Johnson, Bill Walton or Kareem if Silk deserves to be in the H.O.F, I guarantee they all would say absolutely.

Same story for me.
I was born in 82' which was around the prime of Jamal's career.
I heard all the stories by my Pops as well.
When I was old enough to understand, only Magic and Big Game stood out the most.

Re: Jamaal Wilkes HOF Nominee Again.
No not necessarily, but what the hell did Stockton do that was so damn glamorous ? Aside from being the assist leader in a bogus fashion ( a record that he never touches if Magic doesn't retire early) what else is there ? Wilkes is certainly more decorated than Stockton.taii1234 wrote:DEEP3CL wrote:HOF committee is a joke, Stockton is in with no rings but Wilkes and Tex aren't.

not very many people would agree with you on the wilkes over stockton argument. why single out stockton? you think he's the least deserving player in the HoF right now? seems so random to bring him up.

Re: Jamaal Wilkes HOF Nominee Again.
Stockton is arguably the 3rd greatest PG of all time (depending on what you call Oscar and West) so theres not really an argument for Wlikes against him.

Re: Jamaal Wilkes HOF Nominee Again.
I did it because of the imbalance of relevant players in the HOF compared to who's not in. The HOF committee lost track a long time ago on what constitutes a HOF career. Don't get me wrong Stockton was a great player...........but again was he better than Jamaal ? It's debatable no matter how you cut.dcash4 wrote:not very many people would agree with you on the wilkes over stockton argument. why single out stockton? you think he's the least deserving player in the HoF right now? seems so random to bring him up.
Based on accolades Jamaal should've been in a long time ago.

Bias aside, what makes Silk a HoFer? From what was posted here, nothing screams Hall of Fame.
And Hall of Fame over Stockton? Just based on rings?

Re: Jamaal Wilkes HOF Nominee Again.
Wilkes didn't average HOF numbers because he played next to Magic, Kareem, and Worthy but if look at his stats for a few years with the Lakers he was averaging 20ppg while playing with Magic, Kareem and a young Worthy. Also he was the starter at SF for the Lakers during Worthys first couple seasons in the NBA and if it wasn't for Wilkes injury problems he may remained the starter ahead of Worthy. So think about it he averaged 20ppg with Magic and Kareem in their primes imagine what he could've done if played on less talented team with maybe one superstar instead of three or 4 like the Lakers had.

Son, read my post from earlier. I don't think you really did. LoL
If you look at all the names who are in the Hall of Fame today,
there's some dudes in there who's track record isn't as HALF impressive as Wilkes.
