Now that Yao is out for the season again and he's the leading vote getter for C on Western All Stars does that make Bynum the automatic starter if he gets the most votes or is the starter up to the coaches.

No Stern picks a starter.

I would be happy if Drew got his first all-star game this season but he is young and he'll have plenty of chances to get in.
This is L.O's year.
If the fans don't get him in the coaches and g.m's better vote him in with all the high praises they always give him.
Don't Forget to Vote RGM Lakers Fam.

Bynum has no business being on the all-star team. Im pretty sure he knows this. I hope he doesnt make it for a couple of reasons.
1. I hope he gets the opportunity to rest his knee.
2. Making the all-star team is something you earn. I want him to make it, but the right way. By owning the other centers in the league.

So if not Bynum whose the starting C for the Western All Stars the best numbers right now belong to Nene, Okafor, and Marc Gasol.

You can always throw Gasol or Duncan in at the center and let Dirk have the PF spot.

the coach picks the starter replacement, which should probably be pau. stern gets to pick the replacement for yao.
anywhoo, we'll see how drew performs in january, have a feeling he's going to tear it up.

odom should get center recognition.. he was the starting center for USA! would be a nice gesture by stern.

Pau has played center the whole year he should be it. Dirk the other starting forward. Then I'd fill it out like so imo
DWill
Kobe
Durrant
Dirk
Pau
CP3
Westbrook
Mello
LO
Griffin
Nash
Ginobli
CP3 will prolly win the starting nod though. Really don't need another center and there isn't any that deserve it imo. I also don't think Duncan deserves it this year. There are so many guards though and forwards.
Just on the outside: Parker, Love, Ellis, Martin
Dallas is really too balanced, only see Dirk as the all star even though they have great record
SA is balanced too but Ginobli and Parker have stood out
LA is fairly top heavy with the big 3 because Ron and Fish have contributed so little
Thunder have Durrant and Westbrook really standing out
Jazz have Deron then balance, Milsap and Jefferson have been good at times but split each other
Denver really only Mello has stood out, NO CP3, then West a little, then nothin.
Thats the top of the pile record wise, then it goes down from there. No one really standing out on Portland. Nash is a stud but team is weak. Love is a stud, team sucks. Griff and Gordon studs, team sucks, Ellis stud, team sucks.

I agree with this post. If he happens to get in by way of default let's turn that negative into a positive & what I mean by that is if he becomes an All Star he takes pride in that & always hold up to that standard & say I may have gotten there by default the 1st time but since then, its been all me & my teammates.

At this point he doesn't deserve it but usually by the time the All Star game rolls around Bynum is playing like an All Star. Right after the new year he always turns it up a notch. I hope this is the case this year regardless if he is in the All Star game or not. It is in L.A this year so it would be nice to have as many Lakers as we can.

Good point Skyhook. Also is there any Center "owning" right now? Whoever gets there it will still be by default.

Drew will one day earn his all star berth, Yao will never be the same player again. Even when he was playing he was slogging his way through games. The All Star voting and system is flawed, putting Duncan or Pau as centers is weak but that's what will happen. But if Drew has a huge January then what?

i'd like to see drew in the lineup but i'd rather have him rest.
if i were stern i'd pick nene for international purposes. pau already represents spain

I'm hoping that's what they do, so it helps the chances of Griffin or Love making the team. And you're right; Bynum has no business being in the All-Star game this year. He's been injured the entire time, which pretty much makes it an open-and-shut case.

Lamar and Blake should be coming off the bench for the forwards.
They are the most deserving and exciting power forwards in the West.

I think who starts at C for the West depends alot on whether or not Melo will still be in the West by the all star game. If Melo is still a Nugget the front court will be Melo, Durant, and Pau at C. If he gets traded to the East I think the West front court will be Durant, Pau, and Duncan at C. Also I think at this point it will be pretty hard not to have Love and Griffin on the bench with Dirk. The only thing holding Love back is his teams record. Griffin has to much fan support to be left off and Dirk is Dirk. Odom could make the team but he'll probably be competing with Parker and Nash for that last spot. As for Duncan, although his team has the leagues best record he is having a near career low season he only makes it if Melo is traded away and Stern picking him for Yao's spot would make sense because he has alot of votes right now and it won't be controversial.
2011 West wit Melo
PG. Paul, Deron, Westbrook
SG. Kobe, Manu
SF. Melo
PF. Durant,Dirk, Griffin, Love
C. Pau
2011 West w/o Melo
PG. Paul, Deron, Westbrook
SG. Kobe, Manu
SF. Durant
PF.Pau, Dirk, Griffin, Love, Odom
C. Duncan
(With Yao Out) Bynum leads the race for West Center.

I think this would be the year that he'll make it. But does he deserve it? He only played 12games and only started 5.
